Phillip Chan
Games for Apple's iPod, iPhone or iPad are all the rage this holiday season. Hardcore gamers and newbies alike are flocking to the myriad of titles available for these handheld systems. Here are my top picks for the Holiday season that every serious Apple gamer should own, or at least try out, today!

Angry Birds Seasons

By now, you definitely should have heard of Angry Birds. It is possibly one of the most popular games in all of Apple's gaming apps history and has received praise from gamers all across the board. The premise is very simple, just use a little combo of physics and guesswork to launch birds across the screen, blasting them onto the enemy pigs to destroy them. Levels can be defeated by clever aiming and skill. The zones are really well-crafted and can require a lot of creativity to complete. Angry Birds Seasons extends the fun with more levels, set in a holiday and Christmas theme for gamers to enjoy. Grab it on Itunes today for only $0.99 (note: active Internet connection required).

Infinity Blade

This is one of the most graphically breath-taking games to come out for the mobile Apple systems. Infinity Played, powered by the Unreal 3 Engine, allows players to take control of a mighty warrior, clad in armor, fighting against the forces of evil that have ruled the land. The graphics really are a cut above most any other game on the market today for iPad, or iPod. Infinity Blade is also a more expensive game, running at about $5.99 as of this writing, but it certainly has a lot of money poured into its production. Grab this app, and wield your virtual sword to free the land of Infinity Blade today!

Word with Friends

My friend, interestingly enough, introduced me to Word with Friends, calling me up and demanding that I get this fun app immediately. I acquiesced and was delighted with what I found. Word with Friends a scrabble style game, allowing players to take turns on a virtual game board, competing to score points by spelling different words. For anyone who played Scrabbulous on Facebook, or the real deal with family and friends during the Christmas season, this game is a must-have! Of course, an Internet connection, via wi-fi or by your data plan, is required to connect with your friends and take turns in this fun app.
