One of the main highlights of this museum is that it is located in the Barrow County jail. Operated by the Barrow County Historical Society, the museum features old newspapers, sculptures and photographs from World War I and II, The Barrow County Historical Museum is open Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Call ahead of time to request a tour from a museum volunteer.

Fort Yargo State Park

Visitors looking for outdoor adventure in the Winder area can stop by Fort Yargo State Park. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the park has over 18 miles of trails for hikers and bikes to enjoy. The park's lake is available for swimming, fishing and boating. The park also has a section for camping by the lake.

Veterans' Memorial Park

Veterans' Memorial Park honors Winder residents who had served in the armed forces for our nation. The park features engraved bricks with the names of veterans. According to the City of Winder, the Veterans' Memorial Park is adjacent to the Winder Community Center.
