Top Barbeque Restaurants in Frisco Texas
Frisco's BBQ Spots Offer Something for Everybody from Kids Eat Free to Great Lunch Specials
Rudy's - No, it's not a gas station. Stop in for a one of a kind experience.
Rudy's is actually a chain but they have done a very good job preserving the look and feel of a typical hole in the wall barbeque. On the outside it looks like a typical gas station and county store. But look closer and you'll see that there is a restraint attached. You'll find Rudy's, gas pumps and all, at 9828 Dallas Parkway which is on the northbound service road of the Dallas North Tollway just north of Frisco Main street. It's right next the Country Inn and Suites and the Pizza Hut Park in Frisco.
Ordering is a little different than most other barbeque restraints. You still order at the counter but you order your meat by the pound (or partial pound). A few exceptions are the sausage links and chicken. My favorite has always been a quarter pound of lean brisket and a quarter pound of turkey- the turkey is unbelievable. They have a wide variety of sides but the one not to miss is the cream corn. It's not the typical junk that comes out of the can from the grocery store, it's made from real cream in true home cooking fashion.
Now here is where it really get's different. You're food will be served on a sheet of butcher paper in a large basket. Don't expect plates either, you'll get a sheet of butcher paper instead. Seating is a choice of find a spot in several rows of long tables or one of the picnic tables near the windows. Each table has a bottle of the traditional "sause" and "sissy sause." The normal sauce is very spicy and even makes my head sweat, if you're not used to the heat stick to the sissy sauce.
Randy White's Hall of Fame Barbeque in Frisco - $5 lunch specials can't be beat!
Randy White's Barbeque has got to be one of the best values for lunch. For $5 you get your choice of several very good entrees (various meats, chopped beef sandwich, chicken fried steak, etc), two sides, plenty of bread choices and even dessert. You're sure to leave full and happy.
Randy White's Barbeque is located at 9225 Preston Road (Just north of main street behind Golden Moon). It is well decorated and themed albeit a bit heavy on the football side but what do you expect with Randy White in the name. Service is cafeteria style, typical of many barbeques, don't forget the drink and condiment station where you'll find honey butter, rolls, cornbread and plenty of condiments. One thing to stay away from is the hot towels meant for sticky rib fingers. It sounded like a great idea but when I opened the warmer I saw that several of the towels were stained form past use. (By the way, I'd also stay away from the macaroni and cheese. All the other sides were good but the Macaroni and Cheese was pretty bad)
If you still have room left don't forget the dessert station where you 'll find an ice cream machine complete with cones and toppings along with peach cobbler.
Spring Creek - Don't miss those heavenly rolls
Spring Creek has always been one of my family's old stand bys. Spring Creek is at 3623 Preston Road which is at the northwest corner of Warren and Preston. Spring Creek has great food along with good atmosphere. The best part has to be the rolls, every so often the roll girl comes along with a huge basket of the best rolls you ever had.
Dickey's Barbeque- Average but Kid's eat free every day
Dickey's has one location in Frisco at 7070 Preston road and one right at the border with Little Elm at 2487 FM 423. Dickey's food was good but nothing spectacular. The biggest draw for me was that kids eat free. They get their choice of several entrees and a side along with a drink. Stick with the more traditional barbeque choices, the chicken nuggets are those animal shaped ones so don't expect much.
Of the four barbeque restaurants in this article, Dickey's certainly had the most "corporate feel" in the dining room. The booths were your typical restaurant vinyl but had wooden partitions. They had several flat screen TV's tuned to several different channels. Unfortunately they didn't have subtitles turned on or any of the sound playing, just country music. It was nice to have variety (instead of just sports like some places) but one drawback was one of the TV's had a nature channel on and we got to watch a bird attack and devour a frog while we ate.But all in all the food was good and the kids loved the free ice cream cones.
