Top Chef - Season 3

Fall TV

Top Chef Season 3 has progressed quickly if not easily and now they are already down to 5 Contestants from the 15 Chefs they started with. We have Dale, Casey, Hung, Sara, and Brian. The show originated in Miami where the 15 chefs have battled it out to become the new Top Chef. Now they have gone to New York, they will end there trip in Aspen, CO for the annual food and wine festival for the year.

Currently the five remaining chefs have been allowed to progress to New York for the next show and go round. There is no immunity left for any chef so winning the quick fire challenges only helps to solidify your place if you do well. Unfortunately on the last show CJ was sent home due to his dry broccolini and poorly flavored fish. CJ was one of the more cheery and positive faces in the group. We lost Howie in the show before that due to attitude and not even putting out a product in the quick fire challenge. He tried to quit the show when Tom Colicchio the head judge told him he was not allowed to quit and that they would have the last say. Ultimately they decided his choice to leave was correct however and sent him home.

The last four episodes remaining will prove to be the best yet. They continually bring up new creative ideas to test these 5 chefs. They have been through the challenges of learning how to create delicious and culinary plane food, how to create a delectable frozen meal that can be reheated without turning to mush, and cook and creating their own restaurants and menus. This season although having many highs seems to contain many lows as well. Tom has stated a few times that the food created was the worst in all 3 seasons. Whether this is the choice of chef's or the challenges put in front of them is unknown, but the normal praise that is usually heaped upon the chefs seems to be lacking this year. At times it seems that the bar has been raised for these young chefs higher every year, making the level beyond attainment.

However with Hung, one of the cockiest chefs ever, and the rest of the group which is friendly and very much a team unit it will be interesting to see the outcome. Whether the chef that sets himself apart will win or if the team players will conquer the competition.

I agree I like Casey's food but I am thinking that Hung will probably win, which is annoying Hung drives me up the wall.

Haven't kept up with this show at all, but I love Iron Chef America.

I'd like to see another chef win, other than Hung, and Casey's been relatively hot, but I don't know that any of the remaining chefs can beat Hung. He's technically gifted like Marcel was, hated like Marcel was, but a better cook than Marcel.

I think CJ and Tre had the best chance and they're both gone. Maybe if Brian gets to cook seafood.
