Top Christmas 2008 Gift Cards for Tweens

Susan Sosbe
If you have tweens to buy for on your Christmas Shopping list, you have more than likely sadly realized the days of buying an easy (and cheap) toy are gone. They want gadgets...expensive gadgets. The toys for the tween can now run closer to $100 rather than a cheap ten dollars. And if you do happen to pick something out, chances are they will give you the unenthusiastic "thanks". So what can you do? Buy them a gift card and let them pick out exactly what they want...using your money. It's a win-win situation.

Best Buy

There is something for every tween in Best Buy. Whether their passion is game systems, music or movies, they'll find it here. Buy them a gift certificate from Best Buy and you may still get that unenthusiastic response, but they'll be smiling on the inside...trust me. You can pick up a gift card at the store nearest you

Barnes and Noble

Most kids like to read...they just don't like to read what they're supposed to (i.e. homework). But you can still encourage that love for reading by giving them a Barnes and Noble gift certificate and letting them choose what they'll read. Even if it's a comic book or the latest adventures of Captain Underpants and Professor Poopy Pants...they are reading. That's a good thing...really.

iTunes Gift Card

If you hardly ever see the tween in your life without a set of ear buds in their ears, consider getting an iTunes gift card. iTunes gift cards are perfect for downloading more music to their iPod. But beware, iTunes gift cards are only good for iPods. They wont work for a regular MP3 player. You can buy these gift cards online at the Apple Store, Target, Best Buy and Walgreens.

Rhapsody Gift Card

If your tween has a regular MP3 player, consider a Rhapsody gift card for the gift of music. It works much like an iTunes gift card, except it's not for an iPod. Rhapsody gift cards can be purchased at both Target and Best Buy.

Toys R' Us

If your tween still has a little part that is clinging to the simpler younger years, consider buying a Toys R' Us gift card. Toys R' Us carries games for the game systems and cool toys like remote control cars. They're sure to find something they'll like.

Prepaid Visa Gift Card

If you just can't decide what to get the tween in your life, offer them a prepaid Visa gift card. They are the perfect gift card because they can be used anywhere Visa is accepted and it gives your tween complete control over where it is used. It also, although they may not admit this, makes them feel "grown up" by using a credit card-type card, while still being blissfully unaware of the concept of "financial responsibility".

Don't you just miss those days?
