If it is time to start thinking about how you are going to decorate your house or tree for Christmas, you'll want to start thinking of some ideas for decorations or color schemes for your ornaments. Within the past 10 years, people have taken a step outside of the box when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Instead of the traditional red and green colors, people are dabbling in some other types of colors.

It's important to remember that it isn't the colors that represent Christmas, but the feelings that the colors bring.

Here are some new great color schemes that people are using to decorate their home for the holidays:

1. Black and White - For a modern look, you can either use a great green pine tree or you can go for the faux white or black tree. You can purchase great black and white ornaments to go with this tree, and you will have a great unique looking tree that might match your home a little better then the modern green and red appearance.

2. White and Silver - White and silver can give you another great modern look; it can be the theme of snow. You can possibly get snowflake ornaments (which can be purchased at Walmart or Target) and decorate a silver tree or visa-versa. You can create a great winter wonderland appearance in your family room with this color scheme.

3. Blue and Black - For an elegant look, blue and black ornaments can really set a great ambiance in your home. You can still go with the traditional green tree, but cover and fill the tree with all black and blue ornaments, and maybe some great blue lights. You can also use different hues of blue and maybe even break in some shades of grey to give it a little more color. You can find some black blue ornaments at any Christmas shop or at Walmart.

4. Hot Pink and Black - Hot pink and black always make a statement, and if you have fun modern looking home and you want to spice it up, you can purchase a great hot pink Christmas tree on www.amazon.com for only $60.00. You can then decorate this tree in all black ornaments and have the flashiest Christmas tree around. You'll be sure to get some great comments on your hot and fashionable Christmas tree.

5. White and Green - If you enjoy the minty feeling of winter, then try decorating your tree with all white and green ornaments. It will give your home the cool, crisp look but with a warm feeling.

6. Turquoise and White - Another fashion trend is to buy a white Christmas tree (can be found at www.amazon.com) and to decorate it with all turquoise ornaments. You can get these types of ornaments at any Christmas shop or Target store.

7. Red and White - If you are more into the traditional Christmas look but want to spice it up a little bit, try using all red and white colored ornaments. You can call your tree a peppermint patty, and you can even find peppermint lights and decorations at any Walmart. This tree will definitely give you the real feeling of Christmas.

8. All White - You can both buy a white Christmas tree or a green tree and decorate the tree from head to toe in all white ornaments. You can even mix in some silver and grey which will give your house a warm snowy feeling.

9. Red and Silver - Red and silver are on the same lines as red and white. You're house will definitely have the feeling of Christmas and style. You can get any red or silver ornaments at www.amazon.com, www.ebay.com, Walmart, Target or Home Depot.

10. Turquoise and Black - For a fun look, try turquoise and black. These trendy colors will give your house a sense of style this Christmas. You can find great ornaments to help with this color scheme at any Walmart.
