Top Comedy Clubs in Boston

Randy Inman
Most of us enjoy a good belly clinching laugh from time to time, and for some that means some great stand up comedy. If you live in or near Boston or plan to visit Beantown then this is the article for you. I will list some comedy clubs in the Boston area with website links and the address of the establishment in this article.

Dick Doherty's Beantown Comedy Vault at Remington's

Check the website here for locations on the 4 clubs in the Boston area, the one in Beantown itself is at 124 Boylston Street in the basement of Remington's restaurant. Come out and see R rated Hypnotist Joe Devito and laugh yourself silly. Here are just a few of the comics you may see here. Freddie Stone, Larry Myles, Kelly MacFarland, Dick Doherty himself and many others. If you need more info or want to purchase a gift certificate call 800-401-2221.

Nick's Comedy Shop

Nick's Comedy Shop is located at 100 Wharrenton Street in Boston. Click here for the website or call 1-617-482-0930 for more details. They must know funny at Nick's since it has been in business for over 35 years! They offer private parties or fundraisers for a group of up to 500 people. The list of headliners appearing at the time I am writing this, is pretty impressive. Ty Laboe and Mark Riley among other comedians are on the agenda. Of course check with Nick's to see who will be performing when you are considering going.

Improve Boston

The address is 1253 Cambridge Street or see their extensive website by clicking this link. The phone number is 617-576-1253. This place has both a main theatre and a cabaret where they host comedians for your entertainment. Be sure to check with them to see who is appearing when you are in town.

Mottley's Comedy Club Trinity

Mottley's address is 61 Chatham Street in good old Beantown, or click their website here. Mottley's pride themselves on keeping fresh talent coming in the door to avoid seeing stale old shows. They mix new entertainers with older more established ones to keep things going. At the time of this writing some of the featured acts are John Fisch, Jason Kanter and Giluia Rozzi but of course they may have different ones when you attend.

Tribe Theatre

The Tribe Theatre is located at 67 Stuart Street or you can visit their website here. The Tribe Theatre is very unique, in that you can attend comedy shows there or take class and learn how to do it yourself. That's right they actually have classes that teach improve comedy.

Boston is crazy cold. One of the few major cities that can compete with Chicago in terms of winter. Show me something in Miami, Mister!
