Top Content Sites for New Freelance Writers

Maggie OLeary
I first started writing content for the web in 2007, when I found Associated Content. Before that time, I had no idea that you could sign up at websites and write content for Internet users and actually get paid for it. Since that time, I have written for over 30 websites and am currently writing for the web as a full-time profession. If you are looking to get started writing online for supplementary income or even a full-time career, there are several sites you should check out. These sites will help you get started and make money while having fun.

Associated Content / Yahoo! Contributor Network

AC/Y!NC is an obvious choice. You are already here reading this article, so you might as well sign up and submit content of your own, if you haven't already. You can sign up with little hassle and begin producing content immediately. No writing sample or references are needed. Upfront pay comes every day, Monday through Friday, and review times are fairly fast. Performance payments are paid once per month for the previous month's earnings, so it's a nice little bonus. And you can receive higher performance bonuses as your clout level rises. As you prove your skills as a writer, you become eligible for lucrative special assignments.

Demand Media Studios

Demand Media Studios is a very lucrative place to write. Articles pay up to $30 each, with most paying $15 per piece. Articles are written using a template, and there are many easy "How To" and "Topic View" articles. You can also edit content or work in titling there. Pay comes twice per week, on Tuesday and Friday. However, it can be difficult to get accepted at DMS - you must submit your resume and a writing sample. DMS doesn't really tell what they are looking for at any given time; if your resume fits what they currently need, they will hire you. And as with AC/Y!NC, you become eligible for higher-paying special assignments as you prove your writing skills.

TextBroker

TextBroker is a great place for new writers. You submit a writing sample with your application, and that sample is graded on a scale from one to five. This grade determines what level of pay you start out at. The clients at TB are very accommodating and friendly for the most part, and the articles are simple to write, with lots of freedom for the writer. Each article you submit is graded by TB and the client after it is accepted, and if your scores are high enough, you can advance to higher levels with higher pay. TB pays twice per month, as long as your earnings are higher than $10.

There are many great places to write for on the web. These are the three easiest, best-paying sites for new writers to start out with. You can make a full-time living working for yourself as a freelance writer, you just need to stay motivated and organized.

Thanks for the info. AC/Yahoo has been by far the best for me.
