Top Detroit Restaurants to Dine at During the Summer

Stacy J. Day
Although I currently live in North Carolina, I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived there until about 3 years ago. One thing that my family and I liked to do while in Detroit was sample the food at various restaurants. Since I'm not a big fan of cold and snowy weather, we usually preferred to go out in the spring and summer, as opposed to the winter, and we discovered that some of the best restaurants were "summer" restaurants. Because of this discovery, I have compiled a list of my favorite Detroit summer restaurants, which can be reviewed below.

La Dolce Vita - Located at 17546 Woodward Avenue in Detroit near Palmer Park, this restaurant is one of my absolute favorites to dine at in the warmer months. One reason why I like to eat at La Dolce Vita in the spring and summer is because of the outdoor seating on the comfortable patio. I love to enjoy a good meal while simultaneously enjoying nice, warm weather. Another reason why I love eating at La Dolce Vita is because of their delicious food and wonderful service. Sunday brunch is my favorite meal to eat at this restaurant, because of the variety of delicious food. Their cream-filled French toast is especially delicious.

Los Galanes Mexican Restaurant - Located at 3362 Bagley, in downtown Detroit, this ethnic restaurant is another favorite. I've always been a big fan of authentic Mexican food, and eating at Los Galanes Mexican Restaurant is the real thing. Their crispy tacos are my favorite entrée, and I absolutely love eating outside while listening to their live bands play interesting music.

Hockey Town Café - I heard the DJs on 89X mention this restaurant so often that one day after work I decided to check it out. I had never been interested in visiting the Hockey Town Café before, especially since I'm not a hockey fan, but I learned that you don't have to be a hockey fan to enjoy dining at this awesome café. Another thing that I learned about the Hockey Town Café after finally dining there was that they're the #2 sports bar in America. I definitely discovered why they're so popular: it's a very fun sports bar to go to, their food is awesome (especially their hot wings), their staff is friendly and professional, and the atmosphere is exciting and uplifting. The specials that are offered are great, and Hockey Town Café is a popular place for people to go after watching sports at the nearby arenas, although it's popular among those who haven't attended games as well. I've only been to the café once, but I definitely plan to go back when I visit Detroit in a few weeks. 2301 Woodward Ave. Detroit, MI 48201.

Late night comment time for me - I'll be very busy writing and trying to return comments for the next 1-3 months as I'm trying to at least get most of my bills paid! (I figured out that I'd need to write 100 articles a day for 30 days to get enough money from just upfronts, and that's NOT going to happen!)
