How to Understand Effective Selling on eBay

#1 eBay secret. Buying properly equals selling success.

What you know about the amazing gizmo you just found for $1.00 per dozen won't necessarily prove true when you try to sell it on e-bay. When you start out on eBay everyone rushes out to find the deals that they just know will re-sell immediately and make them thousands!

There are fundamental truths that only time and experience will help you understand. The first is doing your research by searching closed auctions to see what has sold specifically and for what prices. In business nothing is as valuable as information. Basic information like doing research about what the history and trends are of your chosen business. If you have never sold rugs for a living would you run out and open a rug business? Anyone can sell anything on eBay but not everyone buys everything that someone is selling on eBay. From my own experience and from thousands of others trying to make their millions on eBay it is critical that you understand a few basic principals.

The #1 eBay secret is learning how to buy the right items at the right prices. Building a long term successful e-bay business is no different than building a brick and mortar business. You will need to spend time and energy developing the business and you will in fact have to communicate with your customers.

Make no mistakes. Don't spend your money buying inventory until you have researched what is selling and for what prices. Knowing this market is just as important as knowing the beef market if you're selling cattle.

The first tip I can give is understand that your time equals money. Would you rather sell 8 items that profit you $25.00 each or 1000 items that profit you $.20 each? This is a serious question as each will make you a profit of $200.00 and each will cost you a given amount of time to manage. Each item must be posted with a full description and managed throughout your auction including shipping if necessary. Do you know how long it takes to ship 1000 items separately? Was it worth the time it took to package and label all those items? I unfortunately do know how long it takes and it is not worth your time. Be smart and develop a plan based on your time being valuable to you.

I wish you the best in your eBay business.
