One of the most popular camps in the area is Kids College, which provides a fun environment for kids, but with the investment of learning alongside the fun. Families have a variety of classes and activities to choose from including Acting, Archery, Art, Aviation, Babysitting, Basketball, Baseball, Baton Twirling, Beading, Board Games, Body Exploration, Bugs, Chemical Attraction, Computers (Designing a Game) Computers (Podcasting), Computers (Powerpoint Scrapbooking), Computers (Web Design), Cooking, Dance, Engineering, and the list goes on.
There are so many classes to choose from and they are kept small, keeping children engaged and leaving parents satisfied that they got a great deal in enrolling their students in this camp. There is truly something for every kid in kids college. The program generally runs for two weeks at a time, and has two different sessions, leaving families with multiple options to participating in the program.
Plaster Cottage is another camp that is within the Clermont area that focuses on crafts and art skills. My boys have both participated in this camp and learned different techniques to painting, scrapbooking, making pottery, and enjoying the practice of working with their hands. They are both lovers of nature and all things to do with their hands and this was a great experience for them. The owners are the individuals that work in the store and run the summer camp, and the cost is reasonable for the week.
There are several city based camps which provide opportunities for games and other recreational activities, providing students with field trips and exploration. These are great camps as alternatives to camps that don't fit budget and they generally offer child care, which accommodates parents that need to work during the summer.
For a small town, we do have quite an array of opportunities for our children to remain active over the summer and maintain their academic interests at the same time.
