Top Entertainers Take the Stage for Idol Gives Back

Tonight's two-hour star studded annual Idol Gives Back show was packed with high-profile personalities and entertainers starting with opening comments by President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama and concluding with a live performance by Sir Elton John of his classic hit Your Song. Queen Latifah co-hosted from Pasadena along with Ryan Seacrest in Hollywood in front of a live audiences. The Black Eyed Peas performed Rock Your Body and Jeff Beck and Joss Stone performed I Put a Spell on You. Donations from the show will be used to help children in America and around the world.

Viewers also watched touching video segments from Jennifer Garner and Victoria Beckham about how the Save the Children foundation is helping children to learn and grow in the Appalachian area of Kentucky and the poor areas of Los Angeles. Morgan Freeman and Randy Jackson talked about the work that is being to done to help children in Mississippi, and Kara DioGuardi and former Idol winner, David Cook, talked about what is being done to help the children in Africa. Simon spent time in southern Arizona with Children's Health Fund helping to bring healthcare to children. And, Ellen showed how donations are used at Feeding America to help millions of Americans to put food on their table every day.

Fans had the opportunity to watch the top 12 perform again together and enjoyed Alicia Keys performing Unthinkable and Carrie Underwood performing Change. The standout performance of the night was Mary J. Blige, Orianthi, Travis Barker and Idol's own Randy Jackson performing Stairway to Heaven.

But, even with all of the exciting performances and touching videos, tonight was still a live results show. Casey and Aaron learned their fate midway through show and found themselves in the bottom three. Tim was next to join them on the stools. Aaron was finally sent back to the safety of the couches. And, finally at 10:22 p.m., Tim was told that he was going home.

In the two plus hours that Idol was live tonight, over $15 million was raised for the children's organizations. Donations can still be made at 1-877-IDOL AID or at www.americanidol.com.
