There are more than the six female drivers in the NHRA drag racing sport. The six top female drivers of the NHRA listed below are those who have made a name for themselves in Pro Stock Cars and Motorcycles, Top Fuel Funny Cars and Dragsters, and Pro Mod Stock Cars.
I've had the privilege of watching some of these female drivers race at the Heartland Race Track in Topeka, Kansas, in person. When I am unable to watch in person, I try to catch them on TV, online via Speed, YouTube, and Twitter or Facebook. They are a great bunch to follow.
Angelle Sampey
Pro Stock Motorcycle racer Angelle Sampey leads the list for this category. She has 41 wins in her career. She follows a close second in Pro Stock Motorcycle following Dave Schultz with 4 career wins. Her career wins and highlights can be read at NHRA Driver - Angella Sampey
Hillary Will
Hillary Will lost her ride for NHRA Top Fuel Dragsters in 2009. She is now coming back with a new ride with the Dote Family in the 2012 NHRA season. Will will be driving a TF dragster once again. Welcome back Hillary. You can find out more about her NHRA career and other associations at Hillary Will at LinkedIn.com.
Shirley Muldowney
No top female drivers list for the NHRA wouldn't be complete without Shirley Muldowney. She was the first woman to win in two different categories fighting against the fellas to get the other women an opening into the NHRA circuit. See her race her top fuel dragster at Shirley Muldowney scores first professional NHRA win for female driver.
Ashley Force Hood
Following in her daddy's, John Force, footsteps, Ashley Force Hood has had her fair share of wins and losses like Muldowney. She hasn't let any of it get her down and out. Even being a new mom, she still finds the time to keep her fans up-to-date with what's going on in her life off the track in the 2011 NHRA season.
Melanie Troxel
Melanie Troxel drives Nitro Funny Cars and Pro Mod for the NHRA. She has driven under the In-N-Out Burger car for Pro Mod. While she doesn't race every race during the season in both classes, she does make her appearances when finances allow her team to show up.
Erica Enders
Erica Enders was a Pro Stock Car driver and her life story was made into a Disney movie called "Right on Track." She even drove jr. dragsters before moving into the NHRA pro divisions. Check her out at Pro Stock - Erica Enders
