So, I'm a mommy. And I'm addicted to the internet. Which means a couple of things: I have a problem that I need help for and I have found some really great mommy networking sites that I think you all should try. The websites here are mostly mommy oriented but there are a few that I recommended that almost ALL women may enjoy, regardless of whether you are a mom or not.
- Girlfriendology.com is a website that was built, single-handedly, by Debba Haupert. There is a blog and podcast in which Debba gives hints about how to be a good girlfriend and interviews authors and other inspiring women about their relationships with other women.
- Cafemom.com is a social networking site, like Myspace or Facebook, geared solely for moms. You create a profile and then can join groups and add applications to your page. There is something for everyone and I found that Cafemom was a great support network for me in the first few months after I had given birth.
- twittermoms.com is a group for moms that are addicted to twitter. The best way to describe Twitter is that is a short form of blogging. You basically can update your friends as to your status throughout the day, a la Facebook or Myspace status updates. Twittermoms is more of a Mypsace or Facebook type of social networking type of site.
- Mombloggersclub.com is a website created for use by mothers who blog. There are forums that focus on blogging topics, parenting and other topics. There are also groups and a blog directory. In some ways, it's also like a social networking site because you can add friends and you must create a profile. This website has given me wonderful advice and a ton of ideas for creative blogging and driving traffic to my website.
- Blogher has to be the most fantastic of all the websites that I frequent consistently. Blogher is a blog support website for all women that have blogs. They do not discriminate and have directories of blogs written by talented and passionate women on just about any topic that you can imagine. Not only do they have directories, but they provide news, information and support to female bloggers in the United States, and sometimes, around the world. They provide news, ideas and inspiration to female bloggers. And they have conferences that any and all female bloggers can attend - including a national conference and regional conferences. They are an amazing resource that everyone should learn about and attempt to be a part of.
There are a ton of mommy and female friendly sites out there if you just take the time to look for them and be active in them.
