When you exercise, mental clarity increases and energy levels soar. In fact, studies show that individuals who exercise in the morning before work are up to 40% more productive throughout the day.
Reduce Stress
Rather than thinking about the things that stress you out all day, you can work out your frustrations through exercise. Physical activity serves to put you in a better frame of mind, no matter what's going on in your life. You'll be less irritable and less likely to harp on things you can't change. Also, daily exercise will help you sleep better at night, which also serves to reduce significant amounts of stress.
Build Relationships
When you have an exercise partner -- be it a spouse, a friend or a family member -- you can build relationships based on trust and accountability. If you know that you and your sister are going to run every morning at six o'clock, you build a dependence on that daily appointment that will help you build closer relationships. Not only that, but people who exercise with others are more likely to reach their fitness goals in a timely manner because they have someone pushing them along.
Improve the Immune System
Exercise helps to strengthen your immune system, which helps you to fight off disease. When you're physically fit, your body works faster and more efficiently to take care of foreign germs or substances. Plus, if you injure yourself, you'll be able to heal faster because your body is better equipped. If that isn't a great benefit of a consistent fitness program, I don't know what is.
Strengthen the Heart
Exercise will not only build up your arm and leg muscles; it also makes the heart stronger. You've probably heard about the dangers of cardiovascular disease, which are becoming increasingly common. When you participate in a consistent fitness program, you train your heart to work less for the same amount of effort. Your heart is able to beat slower while still delivering blood to your entire body, and it will continue to get stronger as you intensify your fitness regimen.
