Top Five Best Healthy Iced Teas for Summer

And Which Ones to Avoid

Nick Meyer

A good iced tea is hard to beat during the summer, but many forms the popular drink are pushing the boundaries of what it the name actually means.

Most teas these days are loaded with way too much high fructose corn syrup or beet sugar, losing their status as a healthy drink.

But the five best healthy iced teas for summer have much higher-quality ingredients and are becoming more and more popular on store shelves.

The top ones to avoid for health purposes include most types of Arizona iced teas, McDonald's sweet tea, Arnold Palmer's half-lemonade, half-iced tea, Turkey Hill iced tea in a bottle and more.

On the contrary, here is a list of the best healthy iced teas for summer:

5. Adina Organics-

These teas come in a glass bottle with their trademark monkey logo on the front of the bottle. While they include a fair amount of sugar (26 g per large bottle) they also are certified organic which means a greater amount of antioxidants are included in the drink.

Their signature herbal tea blends are also infused with beneficial immune-boosting herbs such as astralagus making them a great alternative to regular teas. These should be consumed slowly because of the high sugar content, but the plus is that they are sweetened with organic honey as opposed to HFCS or beet sugar.

4. Lipton unsweetened tea-

This is perhaps the least exciting of all available options but Lipton's unsweteened iced tea is the best choice for when you're at a gas station on a road trip and don't have any more high-end options available. The other kinds are loaded with sugar but the unsweetened kind is refreshing and has no sugar or calories.

3. Honest Tea-

A growing new organic tea brand makes the list of the top five healthiest iced teas for summer because of its high-quality ingredients. The green tea with honey and the half-and-half iced tea plus lemonade combinations are the two main types offered and both taste great with high-quality organic ingredients. The downside much like Adina is the sugar content although the green tea flavor is a bit lower and still tastes excellent for summer.

2. Make your own!-

Making your own iced tea is simple, all you have to do is put your desired tea bags in a pitcher overnight in your refrigerator with ice and any type of fruit you would like to add flavor to it. Give it a try and you'll end up with a healthier tea than just about anything you can find on most store shelves.

1. Tazo teas-

This popular organic tea line contains a huge variety of flavors ranging from acai, peach, and other fruity varieties to lemongrass, Moroccan mint, and other more subtle, exotic flavors. The sugar content in these can become fairly high but there are plenty of options if you want less sugar to try as well.

This brand is the best combination of high-quality ingredients and less calories and is fairly easy to find at coffee and tea shops making it the best brand of healthy iced tea for the summer and the perfect drink for lounging on the porch on a hot summer day.
