Top Five Combat Tactics in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is by far the best video game of 2008. So good, in fact, Playstation is coming out with its sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves later this year. Unfortunately, that's a long time for fans of Nathan Drake to wait. But while you're waiting, you can improve your skills in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune with some of the best combat moves in the game.

Combat Move One: The Stealth Kill

Nothing tops the satisfaction of hearing your enemy's neck crack in one fatal blow. The way to execute the stealth kill in Uncharted is to sneak up behind the enemy (and hope that Elena doesn't exclaim, "Oh my gosh!" and blow it for you), get your finger ready on the square button, and press it once the minute you're right behind him. Nate will then put his arms around the thug's neck, twist a time or two, and drop him to the ground. If executed quickly, this is the easiest way to kill an enemy. Do a number of these moves, and you will earn points in the game.

Combat Move Two: Fast and Furious Combo

This is the easiest combo to execute when you're running out of ammo or confronting an enemy from the front. Simply engage in melee combat by pressing the square button, and continue to press the square 5 times or more in fast sequence. Enjoy watching Nate beat the enemy to a pulp as a result of being called a number of obscene names by the little twerp. He might punch, hook, or grab the enemy's neck with both his legs and snap it.

Combat Move Three: Brutal Combo

This is a fun move that will be required when Nate faces Navarro at the climax of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. You can use it the same as the Fast and Furious combo, but instead of just using the square button, you will press the square first, wait a second, press the triangle button, wait a second, and then press the square again. You can speed up the process if you're in desperate need, but it doesn't always work as well. Just make sure Nate stays very close to the enemy, or the enemy will pull his gun and shoot Nate, even if he's not aiming it properly. You can also earn a number of points in the game for this move.

Combat Move Four: Run and Gun

This move is accomplished by pressing R1 while running. This works best with a pistol or an MP40. It also works with the AK-47 and the M4, but you blow more ammo in less productive ways, and you don't always end up hitting the enemy. You won't be aiming very much in this move, but you can move Nate's body so the bullets end up in the direction you want them to go. This move is good for running in between cover, killing the creatures, and tackling numerous enemies all at once with little cover. Again, this move is great for earning points, too.

Combat Move Five: Hangman Grenade

This move is fun, but not always successful. If you're hanging from a ledge, such as a window, or the hole next to a gate, prepare a grenade and aim so that it hits behind the cover the enemy is hiding on for the most effect. Don't throw it right next to him, though, or he'll move around the cover and won't be hindered at all by the blast. This is another great way to score points in the game as well.

You'll want to perfect these moves in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune now before Uncharted 2: Among Thieves arrives in stores. With these tactics, you should be fully prepared and well-equipped to score high and win your battles.
