Top Five Coolest James Bond Hotels

Rochelle Connery
James Bond has to be the most fortunate man in the world - for more reasons than one. But his biggest perks come at the fancy hotels he gets to stay at. There are the obvious hotels, like Grandhotel Pupp, the home of Casino Royale in the movie with the same name (although it was called Hotel Splendide in the film). And there are the lesser-known titles with equal grandeur, as you'll see in this list of five James Bond hotels.

Gran Hotel De La Ciudad De Mexico, "Licence to Kill"

Remember the gorgeous hotel Timothy Dalton stayed at with female pal Pam Bouvier? It was the Gran Hotel De La Ciudad De Mexico. Although not as luxurious as other Bond haunts, perhaps, it's still beautiful today in its Spanish décor and simplistic furnishings.

Depending on the room you get, you can stay here yourself for only $90 a night or more. Rooms are equipped with the expected amenities, which naturally include high-speed internet, a TV, hair dryer and small lounge areas.

Fountainbleau Miami - "Goldfinger"

Fountainbleau Miami hosted the scene of Bond's stint with Jilly Masterson at the window as she spied on Goldfinger's competitors with a pair of binoculars. It's also the place where Bond found Jilly all covered with gold several hours later.

Not to fear though - not all their occupants get suffocated in metallic paint. Fountainbleau was also featured in movies like Scarface - not that this tidbit is any more reassuring.

Rooms here will cost you a pretty penny, though. Most reservations begin around $400 and don't get much better than that, even in the off-season. But it might be worth it to stay in Miami Beach, Bond-style.

Hotel Atlantic Kempinski - "Tomorrow Never Dies"

Pierce Brosnan scoped out an assailant from a window at Hotel Atlantic Kempinski in Hamburg, Germany in "Tomorrow Never Dies." You'll probably remember his little stunt on top of the globe that's situated on the rooftop. They even nicknamed one of their suites the "James Bond Suite" in honor of the scene, although it's evidently the "Phantom Room" according to a press release.

A room at the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski can be yours for a few nights at the somewhat affordable rate of 339 Euros. Spend a few more Euros, and you'll get a bed and breakfast package. Would you like orange juice or a martini, shaken not stirred, with that reservation, Mr. Bond?

Taj Lake Palace - "Octopussy"

The Taj Lake Palace in Rajasthan, India was featured in scenes from "Octopussy" where Bond is wooing Maud Adams, the leader of the all-female Octopussy gang.

The hotel looks as though it's floating right on top of the water. Romantically lit balconies grace its soft, white façade, you might as well be staying at the Taj Mahal itself if you reserve a room here.

But reservations here don't come cheap. You're likely to spend around $600 per night at the very minimum.

Hotel Cipriani - "Casino Royale"

As the James Bond hotel with perhaps the prettiest vistas and most luscious landscapes, Hotel Cipriani is the perfect reservation for any boater who wants to dock their yacht like Bond did in "Casino Royale." This is also the hotel where Bond and Vesper Lynd stayed right before making the fatal briefcase drop.

But such a gorgeous hotel can hardly be faulted for Vesper's demise. So don't worry yourself if you plan to spend your honeymoon or anniversary there.

However, you'll need to hang onto your pocketbook very tightly. Rooms here begin around 900 Euros per night.
