Top Five Downloadable Playstation 3 Games of 2007

2007 was the first full year for the Playstation Store on the Playstation 3. Although it was off to a slow start (the store was pretty much barren for the first half of the year), the Playstation Store bought many exciting games to the Playstation 3.

5. Everyday Shooter

For Everyday Shooter to be on the list for the best downloadable Playstation 3 games is sort of a miracle; that is because the game is made by only one guy, Jonathan Mak. The game plays like Asteroids, where you shoot enemies from all directions via a top-down 2D perspective. The trippy graphics coupled with unique sound (everything you hit has their own unique guitar riff) makes Everyday Shooter one of the most original games released this year.

4. Wild Arms

Wild Arms may be old, but it is still one of the best downloadable Playstation 3 games. Originally released for the Playstation in 1997, Wild Arms was a perfect mix between the old school 16-bit era gameplay with the production value of the rising (at that time) 32-bit era. Not to mention that it sports one of the most memorable videogame soundtracks of all time. Thanks to the Playstation Store, new generations of gamers can now enjoy this timeless classic on both the PSP and Playstation 3.

3. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online

The Tekken series debut on Playstation 3 was an impressive one with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online. With over 30 fighters to choose from, this Playstation Store game is filled with many of the series favorites. In addition, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online is packed with modes, including a series first in the online mode. Although it was also released on the PSP, the Playstation 3 version has extra content in addition to high-definition graphics.

2. Super Stardust HD

Another game that came out of nowhere to become one of the best downloadable Playstation 3 game is Super Stardust HD. The game is a lot like Everyday Shooter except all the action takes place on a 2D sphere. Although the music was a definite plus, it's the graphics that sets it apart from other Asteroids clones. Hundreds of objects filled the high-definition screen with absolutely no slow down whatsoever. With a bunch of modes, including cooperative and online leader board, Super Stardust HD will give you a lot of bang for your buck.

No surprise here. Warhawk is one of the most addictive games released this year for any system. This multiplayer only game will have you fighting by air, ground and foot. Everything is so well balance that you can play in so many ways and still have a lot of fun. Hours will fly by quickly, especially if you are playing spilt screen (which supports up to four players) online. With beautiful graphics to boot, Warhawk is one of the best games on the system to date. Despite also being released on Blu-ray, Warhawk is the best downloadable game on the Playstation 3 in 2007.
