Top Five Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products for Your Car

Rochelle Connery
For the die-hard environmentally-friendly enthusiast, it can be difficult to find car cleaning products that actually work. The good news is, there are products out there. The bad news is, most environmentally products cost an arm and a leg because they are not made from typical commercially-made ingredients. Here's some of the best environmentally friendly cleaners that are the best for your car and your buck.

One: Eco-Green Heavy Duty Car Wash

Not only does the Eco-Green Heavy Duty car wash not contain any harmful ingredients, like chlorine, it's biodegradable. And the best part? It's made from 100% plant materials.

You're going to pay the price for this one, though. Starting at $563 for a 15-gallon container of concentrate, you better be planning on doing a lot of car washing. You can dilute it more if you'd like, however, and you'll get more mileage out of it.

According to Eco-Green, this car wash cuts through oil, grease, tar, sap, and more.

Two: GS27 Car Cleaning Products

From waterless glass cleaner to paint restorer to leather, fabric, and shampoo cleaners, GS27 offers environmentally-friendly car cleaning products to cover just about every surface in your eco-friendly hybrid. They each cost between $19.99 and $26.99 per bottle, so they're fairly affordable, but still a bit pricey compared to their non-eco-friendly counterparts.

What's so special about their products is that they're waterless, so you don't have to rinse on or rinse off with any application.

Three: Green Works

You can get a bottle of Green Works at Walmart for under $4.00 and use it just about anywhere in your car. It works on the leather seats, the steering wheel, sticky spots on your dashboard, etc. I don't recommend it as glass cleaner, however. But it is very affordable and doesn't contain any bleach or other harmful cleaning agents. You don't have to rinse it off, either. Simply buff it off with a soft towel and you're good to go.

Four: Eco Touch Waterless Car Wash Kit

You might be wondering how you wash the exterior of your car without water. Well, it works pretty much like washing anything else, except you'll be buffing to get it shiny instead of rinsing with water.

At $16.00 per kit, you get a 24-oz bottle of Eco Touch car wash and two towels, one for washing and the other for buffing. I don't suggest using it on huge vehicles, or you'll be there all day, but it works for those hybrid cars and most compact cars.

Five: Simple Green Car Wash

If you're not quite hip to the waterless thing, using Simple Green car wash will at least give you the peace of mind that you're using biodegradable materials when washing your car. You'll still need plenty of water to rinse off, but no harmful, unenvironmentally-friendly cleaning products will come into contact with your vehicle.
