Top Five Home Run Hitters in Milwaukee Brewers History

The Milwaukee Brewers all-time home run leaders display a great deal of parity with 18 players totaling at least 100 home runs, but none topping 251. One current player is working his way up the leader board quickly and has an excellent chance to soon hit more home runs than any other player in Brewers history. For now, the team's home run leader is a Hall of Fame shortstop and center fielder who spent 20 years with the organization.

5. Prince Fielder: 178 home runs

Current first baseman Prince Fielder is quickly climbing the charts of Milwaukee Brewers all-time home run leaders. Six seasons into his Major League career, Fielder swings one of baseball's most powerful bats. He holds the two highest single-season home run totals in Brewers history with 50 in 2007 and 46 in 2009; only three other Brewers have even reached 40 in a season. Though he currently sits fifth, at his current pace, Fielder should climb to second and possibly challenge for the team lead in the 2011 season.

4. Cecil Cooper: 201 home runs

Five-time All-Star Cecil Cooper ranks fourth among Milwaukee Brewers all-time home run leaders. Cooper manned first base for the Brewers from 1977 to 1987, hitting 20-plus home runs five times. Cooper was part of one of the best offensive teams the Brewers ever fielded. In 1982, he was one of three Brewers to hit at least 30 homers and drive in 100-plus RBI en route to the team's only appearance in the World Series.

3. Gorman Thomas: 208 home runs

Gorman Thomas spent five seasons as Milwaukee's center fielder and parts of six other seasons with the club, putting up great power numbers with a flimsy batting average. Though he hit only .230 in his tenure, Thomas had four 30-homer seasons with the club and still stands as one of the Milwaukee Brewers all-time home run leaders. He led the AL in home runs twice, first in 1979 when he slugged a career high 45 and again in 1982 with 39 homers.

2. Geoff Jenkins: 212 home runs

A reliable power threat in his ten-year career with the team, left fielder Geoff Jenkins ranks second among Milwaukee Brewers all-time home run leaders. Jenkins was a reliable middle-of-the-order hitter in Milwaukee from 1998 to 2007, topping the 20 home run mark seven times. He topped 30 homers once, hitting a career best of 34 in the 2000 season, and he participated in the 2003 All-Star Game.

1. Robin Yount: 251 home runs

The Milwaukee Brewers all-time home run leader is Robin Yount, the best player in Brewers history. A Hall of Fame shortstop and center fielder, Yount won two AL MVP Awards with Milwaukee. Though he had a reputation as a great hitter rather than as a power hitter, Yount played 20 seasons in Milwaukee and tallied enough homers for the all-time lead. From 1980 to 1991, he hit double-digit home runs in 11 of 12 seasons including four seasons over 20. His career high came in his first MVP season when he slugged 29 home runs in 1982.
