Top Five Improvements Coming from Firmware 3.0 On Playstation 3

Otter
Sony has been constantly adding new features to the Playstation 3 since it launched in late 2006. The system has come a long way from what it was before. Firmware 3.0, which is coming on September 1st, will be the latest major update for the Playstation 3 and will come with plenty of improvements. So what should you expect from the new update? Here are the top five improvements Firmware 3.0 will add to the Playstation 3.

5. Shortcuts to the Playstation Store
Originally, the Playstation Store was slow and hard to navigate when the Playstation 3 launched. Fortunately, Sony has since improved upon their gateway to downloadable content. Firmware 3.0 further adds to the improvements by bringing more shortcuts to the XrossMediaBar. For example, you can go directly to the video section of the Playstation Store from the video category. Thus, Firmware 3.0 made the Playstation Store of the Playstation 3 more accessible.

4. More Trophies Viewing Options
Sony made trophy support a requirement for games released after 2009. It has been a big hit with the fan base so far. For Firmware 3.0, Sony is enhancing the user experience when viewing trophies. The new update will allow you to sort for an individual game in two categories: base and add-on. This will make it easier to read your trophies on the XrossMediaBar of the Playstation 3.

3. The "What's New" Feature
Previously, the Information Board on the XrossMediaBar gives you the latest news surrounding the Playstation 3. Sony will be replacing this feature with a more improved one in the upcoming Firmware 3.0. The "What's New" feature is located under the Playstation Network icon and will feature different images and short animations on the latest news from the Playstation world.

2. New Status Indicator
The Information Board ticker on the XrossMediaBar is also replaced by a new status indicator in the upcoming Firmware 3.0 update for the Playstation 3. This new bar will display you user information in addition to friends and messages. What usually takes a couple of button presses on the XrossMediaBar of the Playstation 3 is now instantly available when you boot up the system.

1. New Customization Options
Finally, the most important feature added to the Firmware 3.0 update of the Playstation 3 is the new customizable options. For one, you can now use animated themes on the XrossMediaBar. Furthermore, more avatars options (free and premium) will be available soon on the Playstation Store per fan requests. With these new customizable options, you can have your own unique XrossMediaBar on the Playstation 3 with the upcoming Firmware 3.0 update.
