Top Five Least Frightening Scary Movies of All Time

1) The Village (2004) I would say The Village tops my list of the Top Five Least Frightening Scary Movies of all Times. This movie just never grabbed a hold of me and scared me. Sure parts of the movie were interesting but scary it was not. The creatures that are terrorizing the village are far from terrifying and the movie lets us see that early on. The movie has a wonderful cast and a few thrills and twists and turns so it is worth a watch. However with the boring and dull moments in this film you are praying for it to scare you and it never fully gets to that point. If you are going to plan to watch a movie that will frighten you The Village is not the movie to see.

2) The Changeling (1979) George C. Scott plays John Russell. John's wife and daughter are in car accident and John relocates to Seattle to teach at his alma mater. He moves into an estate in the country, loving its privacy and the solitude he is after. It is not long before John starts hearing and seeing things in his new home. The Changeling does make the viewer feel slightly uncomfortable and there are instances of scary moments. However, as true fright goes this movie just does not deliver in that aspect.

3) Arachnophobia (1990) Arachnophobia makes my list because I just wasn't totally frightened during the movie. Now the idea of a bunch of spiders on me is a frightening thought, the movie just did not deliver in true jump up out of your seat or grab someone's arm terror. The movie is good and there are times when you are yelling at the victim to watch out but it doesn't deliver in giving the viewer nightmares. I know many people have arachnophobia and it might scare these people. However if you aren't scared of spiders than the true fright value isn't there. The movie made the spiders smart and the main spider could dodge flames from the flame thrower. Now I don't know about you but I have never seen a spider even smart enough to dodge my shoe.

4) I Know What You Did LastSummer (1997) I Know What You Did Last Summer is a thriller about four teenagers that try and cover up a hit and run accident. They end up getting a letter though that says "I Know What You Did Last Summer." The movie is a very good movie and the cast is great, but truly frightful it is not. In the movie you see the girl's running, while the killer walks and they still never get far enough away from him. That ruins the fright factor there. I can out run a walking person any day. There are some gasps and shriek moments but nothing truly terrifying to make a true horror flick.

5) Scream (1996) Scream is last on my list of Top Five Least Frightening Scary Movies of All Time, because it just barely made the list. I love the Scream Movies and this one was the best. Scream is about a killer who is using his love of scary movies to terrorize the town. He takes everything he knows about the scary movies to trick his victims and throw his pursuers off. The movie has a few jump up out your seat moments however it is also filled with a lot of humor so this throws the fright factor way off.

The Village was a movie that was very easy to figure out in terms of what the monsters were all about. It had some scary moments, but Signs puts it to utter shame.
