Top Five Makeup Tips

Applying makeup can be a highly artistic endeavor with complicated techniques and products. However, here are the top five makeup tips that help you improve your appearance with basic cosmetic application.

1. Match Your Foundation

Choose a foundation color that matches your skin tone, not the tone you would like to be. If you want a California girl look, use a bronzer or blush to achieve that sunny glow. A mask of dark foundation is not attractive.

2. Pay Attention to Your Eyebrows

It is amazing what a well-defined brow can do to improve the overall look of your face. Especially if you do a strong eye, the brow is the frame. Of course, a harsh, overdone brow is not attractive, either. Be sure you choose a lighter color that you use for mascara. A blonde eyebrow pencil is very good for light brunettes, too.

3. Pick Only One Facial Feature to Accentuate

It is fun to play with makeup, especially in the evening. Going out for the night with a dramatic eye or a full, red lip can be a refreshing change. However, don't accentuate everything at one time or you will look like Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. This is not attractive.

4. Adjust Your Makeup For Your Age

Tone down your make up to neutral, natural shades as you get older. Remember how we used to play in makeup to try to look older? The same still applies. If you want to look younger, wear a more natural color scheme. This is one of the most important of makeup tips.

5. Forget Sticky Lips

Do you realize that women eat a large amount of petroleum a year in lip gloss? Where do you think the stuff goes when you keep applying it every little bit? Did you ever think that men don't really want to kiss a pair of sticky, slimy lips? This is not attractive, either.

These are the top five makeup tips, and hopefully they will help you refine your overall makeup routine.
