Top Five Metal Gear Solid Bosses

Otter
The Metal Gear Solid series is world-renowned for having some of the best boss fights in videogame history. The main reason for this is that the series is able to invoke strong emotions into the fight due to great storytelling. Not to mention the battles have igneous ways to fighting them. Here are the top five boss fights in the Metal Gear Solid series.

5. Olga (Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty)
Although it wasn't the hardest of boss fight, the fight with Olga is one of the more memorable boss battles in the series. The atmosphere during this fight looks like it came straight out of movie: a one-on-one duel on a ship during the middle of a rain storm. In addition, the fight forces you to think out-of-the-box a couple of times with a couple of curveballs: a blinding ship light and a loose tarp that obscures your view.

4. The End (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)
The Metal Gear Solid series are the one of the few games that does sniper battles right. It was a tough choice between The End and Sniper Wolf but the boss battle with The End won out in the end due to the epic scope. The battlefield for this sniper duel is simply massive, crossing many sections in the jungle. The fight could actually take hours to complete since finding The End while hiding from him at the same time will require a lot of work.

3. Cyborg Ninja (Metal Gear Solid)
Cyborg Ninja is one of the coolest characters in the Metal Gear Solid series. Most of it is due to the awesome boss fight. The first thing you notice is that shooting him has no effect at all. He simply blocks the bullets with his sword. How cool is that? Thus, going commando with your fists was your only option. The optical camouflage, destructible environment and Cyborg Ninja's cry for more for pain adds to an already intense battle.

2. The Boss (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)
Picture this: a man and a woman on a beautiful garden with flower petals being blown around. Is it a scene from a romance movie? Nope, it is one from the final boss battle with The Boss. Not only does the battle requires your master the CQC combat system you learned throughout the game but The Boss also blend in quite well with the white flower petals. Add to the fact that there is a time limit and you have yourself a tough and ultimately satisfying boss fight.

1. Psycho Mantis (Metal Gear Solid)
Psycho Mantis is all about mind games and he sure has a bunch of tricks up his sleeves with the ultimate boss fight. The battle accomplished one thing that very few games have done before: breaking the forth wall between the gamer and the game. Psycho Mantis can read your mind and, thus, can dodge all your moves. To counter, you have to plug the controller into a port for the second controller. The fight also includes a signal switch with a "Hideo" reference (the name of the series' creator). Psycho Mantis breathing mask tops it off as one of the most mind-blowing and enjoyable fights in the Metal Gear series.

Metar Gear Solid is and will always be the most engaging, orignal, captivating and simply refreshing form of gaming we will ever see.
There are 3 titles that will and have achieved iconic status:
    1. MGS Series
    2. Street Fighter series [best beat em up series]
    3. Resident Evil [best horror series]

Too bad that MGS4 didnt have any original fights :( (but the game rocks anyway) not mentioning a Solid vs. Ocelot(Liquid) fight that was cool.

Yes, Psycho Mantis had to be #1. Amazingly creepy fight, still gives me shivers to think about him reading my memory card.

    "You like Castlevania, don't you?"

I love the MGS lets you do things other games would never dream of, like sniping The End when you first see him in the wheelchair so you don't have to fight him later.
