Top Five New Motorcycles that Were Released in 2010
Finding Five of the Best New Motorcycles that Came Out in 2010
While the automotive based economy here in the United States struggles to get back on its feet, there are many other modes of transportation that are beginning to take away market share from the old school transportation standards. This means that consumers are moving away from using just basic transportation norms that have been in place for so long now. It is becoming more typical to see different people using smaller cars and many more motorcycles to take their daily commute to work and back.
The more fuel efficient and functional a vehicle can be will be an important measure when people are looking at new vehicles in the future. Since motorcycles are so fuel efficient and the cost of driving has become such a major portion of most peoples monthly expenses, then it should come as no surprise that motorcycles are taking over market share that was once held by small sub compact cars.
With that in mind here are my top five picks of really great motorcycles that came to market in 2010 or were modified for this year.
1) Saxon Reaper Base Cruiser
This is a production cruiser which looks very much like custom, and if you own one of these you may be the only kid on your block to be riding this really great bike. With a 1573 cc V-twin and six speeds connected by a chain drive this is an exciting Cruiser. For the moderate price of $19,845 you can own a classic looking bike for a lot less than the big name custom bike shops could sell if for.
2) Moto Guzzi Griso Super Sport
This 1200 cc 8v engine is really stout and it delivers a striking 108 horsepower! For the low price of $14,280 you can have a really sharp Moto-Guzzi in your stable! These bikes ride and accelerate very smoothly and they are great road bikes as well. Having owned a 1971 Moto-Guzzi I can say that the newer models are so well put together that it is hard to believe they are from the same company!
3) Triumph Thruxton 900 Special Edition.
This is a standard body style Triumph, and it has the classic Triumph lines that make these bikes so recognizable. This model has an 865 cc parallel twin engine that produces a modest 68 horsepower. If you are out to ride a cool bike in style, then this Triumph is for you! You can purchase this model for around $9,349.
4) Victory Hammer 8-Ball Cruiser
The Victory line of bikes is s subdivision of Polaris Industries. The Hammer 8-Ball Cruiser is a well balanced machine with just the right amount of horsepower for this size machine. With six speeds connecting the 97 horsepower 1731 cc V-Twin to the rear tire this bike is sure to get you to your destination in a hurry! The base model costs around $14,999.
5) Zero DS
This Electric Motorcycle is part of a full line up of all electric motorcycles! The DS model is what Zero Motorcycle Company calls their "Dual Sport" because it is designed to be used on the Street or in the Dirt! This Electric motorcycle trend is growing rapidly due to the extremely efficient energy use you get with this kind of vehicle. For the base price of $9,995 you get the complete motorcycle no assembly required and a charger plug that connects to 110vac or 220vac. There is a $1000 federal tax credit for this kind of vehicle and this drops the price to $8,995. Features are pretty amazing for an electric cycle! 67 mile per hour top speed, about 50 miles on a charge, less than 4 hours for recharge. Costs about $0.01 per mile for the electricity! I am sure that we will be seeing more bikes like this in the future!
These five motorcycles represent some serious market expansion and some incredible improvements in performance and fuel efficiency. You could be saving your pennies so that you can own one of these new motorcycle models!
