Top Five Movie Theaters in Vancouver, Washington

Kelly O'Neil
Living in the rainy city of Vancouver, Washington can put a damper on your entertainment plans for most of the year. Rain or shine, however, the movies are a good bet, and Vancouver has many movie theaters to choose from. Whether you are looking for a cheap date, the perfect location, or dinner and a movie in one, Vancouver has it. Here are five theaters to check out, and you don't even have to head over to Portland, Oregon to get your entertainment fix.

If you are looking for comfortable seats and great snacks (or a full meal), Cinetopia should be your first choice. This theater features a choice between living room theaters (where you can order a meal, sit on comfortable couch-like chairs, and put your feet up on an ottoman) or the standard stadium theaters which also feature very comfortable seating. Cinetopia is located at 11700 SE 7th Street in Vancouver (98683). Tickets range from $8.25 to $13.50 for adults in the Grand Auditoriums (depending on show times and movie type) and $11.00 to $17.50 in the Living Room Theaters. The living room theaters are only open to those 21 and over. For show times, the restaurant (Vinetopia) menu, and all the information you need, check out the website at www.cinetopiatheaters.com .

If you are looking for a big variety of movies to choose from and lots of parking Regal Cinemas Cascade 16 is the movie theater for you. Located at 1101 SE 160th Avenue in Vancouver (98683), it is a nice clean theater with lots of show times.. Listings, specials, and directions can be found on the Regal Cinemas' main website at www.regalmovie.com . Just type in the zip code in the "Theatre Locations" section and you are on your way. As with all Regal Cinemas, tickets are around ten dollars, but check the website for pricing and discounts and be sure to join the Crown Club to earn credits towards future purchases.

If you prefer the Downtown Vancouver scene (and yes, there is actually a downtown scene in Vancouver, despite what Portland people will tell you), the location of the downtown theater is just right for you. The Regal City Center 12 is a pretty theater (inside and out) located near many downtown restaurants. The address is 801 C Street (98660). It has comfortable seating and free parking. A special feature of this theater is that some of the movies feature close captioning for deaf moviegoers (check with the theater for more information.) Show times are listed on the Regal Cinemas website.

If cheap tickets are what you crave, head on over to the Regal Vancouver Plaza 10, located at 7800 NE 4th Plain Road (98662). This is a Regal Cinema, but it shows movies that have been out for awhile, so it is only three dollars per ticket. This makes for a good cheap date, and with Barnes and Noble right next door, you can grab a cup of coffee and chat afterwards. Movie listings for this location are also listed on www.regmovies.com.

If you have an afternoon of errands to do, and really crave a break, the Cinema 99 Stadium 11 theater is in the heart of stores galore. Located at 9010 NE Hwy 99 (98665), Winco, Walmart, and Walgreen's are right down the street so you can get your errands done and fit in a movie, too. This theater is pretty clean and has good parking. Once again, you can get directions and listings at www.regmovies.com.

Vancouver, Washington may be big and rainy, but wherever you are at in the city you should be able to find a movie theater that works for you . . . even without crossing the river to Oregon.
