Top Five Movies for Halloween Night

Rian Wing
It's that time of year; Halloween has come once again. It's time for the children to be put into bed and tucked in tightly. It's time for to make your blood boil, your skin crawl, and let your imagination run wild. Here's a list of some of the best Halloween movies ever made. Break out your Blockbuster membership card and check out these great listings.

Halloween - Michael Myers

The first and foremost movie that must be watched is but of course Halloween. Everyone is scared of Michael Myers. Especially since we have no idea what he looks like or who he even is. By watching this movie you begin to question the whole idea of Halloween night itself. From the simple trick-or-treaters who knock on your door to the person sitting next to you, who will be the next victim?

As you watch this scary and terrifying movie, you begin to question who is standing outside your window or who might be inside your closets.

The plot of the movie is simple and yet complex. It leaves you guessing and wondering what Michael Myers is capable of and what secrets are in his head.

I recommend not watching this movie alone. While the movie is scary, it has a tendency to make your imagination grow which can drive anyone insane. Will Michael Myers come visit you tonight?

The Omen - The Original

Who is not afraid of what might happen at the end of the world? Who is not afraid of the Antichrist and the devil? The Omen makes each person who watches question their faith and belief system from the moment you realize that the Antichrist has come to earth.

As a child controls the mysterious death of individuals who upset him, you find yourself looking at your children differently. Have you ever wondered if maybe your children was the Antichrist?

The background and research that goes into this film makes it more horrifying and mysterious. You can break out your Bible and follow along while you watch this film, knowing that this could possibly be the end of time.

Do you know the Lord's Prayer? If not, you might want to learn it before this film reaching its end.

The Exorcist - The True Story

By far one of the scariest individuals to ever appear in movies-the Devil himself. Here you find the life of a famous movie star whose daughter is possessed by the Devil himself.

You follow the plot and watch a beautiful, innocent young child begin to do things that even an adult wouldn't considered doing. From masturbation with a crucifix to walking down the stairs twisted over, a young child would not know what these things would mean.

Two priests are needed to complete this plot. An old priest and a young priest, a believer and a skeptic will be the ones to relieve this child of her nightmare.

Do you believe in the Devil? He believes in you.

Amityville Horror - The True Story

The true story of a haunted house makes anyone come up with a million questions of why, how, who, and what is happening. Amityville Horror follows the lives of a family who purchases a home that has a history all its own.

What would happen if you found that you were locked in a closest and couldn't escape? Yet when opened by someone else from the outside the door was unlocked the whole time. Would you be terrified or write it off as a simple door knob malfunction?

What would you think if you found an entryway to what you consider hell in your basement? What would you do if you found your husband changing from the loving man he once was to a horrible, mean person?

Remember, this is based on a true story. The things in this film are real and happened to real people.

How much do you know about the history of your house?

Psycho - Alfred Hitchcock

A rainy night on a deserted road in a small town, a neon sign glowing in the dark, do you stop for the night to get a room or do you continue on your travels?

Alfred Hitchcock is by far one of the most incredible writers of his time. He takes a simple plot twist and makes you question the identity of every character in the film.

Who is mother? Who is Norman? Where is the Bates' Motel? These questions among a hundred more are answered at the very end of the movie.

The idea of a horror movie based on the simple twist of the mind is just a small example of what Hitchcock was capable of.

After seeing this film, you will be careful what hotel you stay at and who you let into your life. Be careful, rumor has it that Norman Bates has escaped from prison.

Summary

Everyone loves Halloween. The whole point is to have fun, be safe, and scare yourself so bad that you never sleep alone again. These movies will be the perfect beginning of or the end to your night. Now head to your favorite video store and make sure you tuck your children in tight, say a prayer, sit back and enjoy.

Hey Rian, I checked out your site on the affiliations link you posted up there, and it's really cool. Did you make that yourself or have someone do it for you?

I admit that some of the newer stuff and some of the japenese stuff is good for what it is, but it takes a lot of talent and a great story to make a movie that doesn't have special effects like that and really have it chill your blood. That's why the classics are just that - CLASSICS. They haunt you even now, as an adult, and without billions of bucks on special effects that just make you sick, not thrilled and terrified.

I love horror movies,Halloween and Psycho are some of my all time favorites.Thats the best part of October, seeing all the old horror flicks.

  • Rian Wing10/11/2006

Granted, those are all great movies, I've seen them all and I love those Japanese movies as they do scare me. Yet, I still have to fall back on the classics. The originals, the ones that leave you wondering if it could happen to you.

Pish tosh.....ever seen any Japanese horror? That's the stuff that will have you crying like a little girl, The Ring, The Grudge, Phone, R-Point, Tale of Two Sisters, Wishing Stairs
