Transformers 2: Revenge of the fallen.
The Decepticons came back this summer in an attempt to resurrect their fallen leader and give the survivor of an ancient race of transformers the chance to destroy the planet Earth. As promised this movie was filled with action packed scenes. Shia LaBeouf performs wonderfully in his role as the witty main character, but the majority of comedic moments are provided by his mother, played by veteran actress Julie White. However, it seems the writers decided to up the "cheese" in this installment. Some of the worst dialogue I have ever heard, coupled with a pair of the most irritating characters I have seen this summer (the twins Wheelie and Skids) prevents this movie from gaining a higher spot on my top 5.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The first in the new X-Men series follows the life of one of the most popular members of the X-Men, Wolverine. Hugh Jackman reprises his role as the good guy with attitude as he seeks revenge against his half brother, played by Leiv Schreiber, who is responsible for the death of wolverines wife. The action scenes, as always were engaging, and it was interesting seeing some of the mutants that got left out of the recent trilogy. The few negatives are that at times the dialogue was terrible, and the best character, Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, was reduced to a brief cameo.
3.
Terminator Salvation.
A prequel to the hit terminator series, this installment follows adult John Conner, played by Christian Bale, in his attempt to destroy Skynet and end the war against the machines. I didn't have high hopes for the movies after being completely disappointed by the third terminator movie. Thankfully this exceeded my expectations. As predicted this film was full of intense action scenes, but what made the movie more than just another action flick is the storyline. Between scenes of chaos and violence we see a debate on what makes a human a human go on between all the main characters. I highly recommend this movie, even if you haven't seen the original series.
2.
Star Trek
Yet another sequel makes it on my list. This installment in the original Star Trek series I felt is by far the best. It takes place in an alternate history where Captain Kirks father is killed by a Romulan ship commanded by a man who is bent on revenge against the Federation and more specifically Spock. The casting for this movie was superb, acting was excellent. Simon Pegg as Scotty stole every scene he was in. Unless you are the most anal fan, this movie does the original series justice, and may lead to the revival of the series.

The Hangover
Four friends went to Vegas for a bachelor party a few days before the wedding, sounds innocent right? Well, after a confusion over what drug was put in the drinks, three of the guys wake up to a trashed room, a baby in the closet, a tiger in their bathroom, and one of the friends missing. This film is not for the feint of heart. This raunchy comedy will have you in stitches for the better part of 2 hours, and most of the drive home. Their search for their missing friend takes them on a tour of Las Vegas, bumping into an array of odd characters, including Mike Tyson who interestingly enough has a Phil Collins obsession.
