Top Five Nintendo Wii Games for Kids

Rochelle Connery
Call of Duty and Modern Warfare provide hours of entertainment for older teens and adults, but what about Wii games for kids? Nintendo certainly didn't leave out the "under twelve" age group, did they? Certainly not. In fact, some of the best video games for kids are created specifically for the Nintendo Wii platform. Here's the top five best Wii games for kids that your munchkins are sure to enjoy. Plus, you'll have peace of mind knowing their innocent minds aren't being corrupted with language, violence and suggestive themes present in older kids' games.

Wii Sports Resort

No one ever gets to play all the sports they've ever wanted to play in their lives. But why settle for just a few when you can sample them all? Nintendo Wii's Sports Resort picks up where Wii Sports left off and gives kids a chance to play the games of their dreams. Sword fighting, archery, basketball, wakeboarding and power cruising (jet skiing) are just a few highlights of the twelve sports offerings on Wii Sports Resort.

Better still, game play is located on an island-style vacation spot. So you and your kids get to feel like you're really at a resort while you play - minus the Swedish spa.

Super Mario Bros.

Mario hardly needs an introduction, but the worlds he plays in sure do. Let your kids launch into a whole new field of imagination in worlds with Egyptian pyramids, tropical palm trees, icy glaciers and mountainous terrain.

Mario is joined by his brother Luigi, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad during his quest to save a young princess from the villainous grip of Bowser, Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings. The game is rated "E" for "Comic Mischief."

MySims Agents

Kids who enjoy the idea of the game "Clue," but aren't so thrilled about playing board games can get the detective experience they crave in MySims Agents for Wii.

Pick a child-spy character, customize the hair and outfit and hit the streets with your detective tools, including a wrench, crowbar and magnifying glass. Kids will scour the cityscape for case clues to bring back to headquarters. Along the way, players can achieve game goals and unlock new sleuthing tools.

Boom Box Bash Party

For kids who are into smashing toys around the house but aren't into brainy games or intricate plots should check out Boom Box Bash Party for Nintendo Wii. They're sure to have a blast crushing, smashing and blasting everything in sight. But there's a small twist to the game.

The trick to this party is to bash structures without running out of slinging ammunition. It takes a little bit of aim and a smidgeon of patience to win this video game.

Dance Dance Revolution Disney

Dance Dance Revolution might just be one of the biggest games to hit the Nintendo Wii, but not all parents are thrilled about their younger ones jiving to the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull and Gorillaz. Well, parents, there's good news. The little kids can now dance to super-safe Disney tunes.

The Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix might not have a 50-song strong setlist, but it has enough tunes to keep the kids busy for a while. Disney added a dancy beat to many Disney classics, such as "Chim Chim Cher-ee," "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and "It's a Small World" to keep kids' interest without introducing them to the more mature themes of mainstream music. So it's a win-win situation for young children and adults... until the songs get stuck in your head.
