The classic beat-em-up finally debuts on the Virtual Console. Your girlfriend has been kidnapped by a group called the Black Warriors. Despite being only one of the very few Role-Playing games on the Virtual Console, Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom is also among the weakest. It is considered the worst by far in the legendary series. Still, the generation-spreading storyline may keep you interested. Otherwise, if you want your sci-fi fix, get Phantasy Star II instead. Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom is only for the hardcore fans of the series who wants to complete their collection.

Since its successor, Super Turrican was the best Virtual Console game released last month, Mega Turrican had a lot to live up to. Fortunately, Mega Turrican is one of the more underrated action games on the Sega Genesis due to a successful mix between Contra-style shooting and Mertroid-style exploration. Great graphics and music adds some flavor to the overall package.
