Top Five Performances from So You Think You Can Dance All-Star Twitch

Stephen Laurel "Twitch" Boss is Back on So You Think You Can Dance

Montgomery, Alabama is bringing the funk to "So You Think You Can Dance" in the form of a four-eyed man with a "T" across his chest. His name is Stephen "Twitch" Boss, and he's one of the best hip-hop dancers in SYTYCD history. In Season 7, the format has changed and SYTYCD all-stars are performing with the season's new dancers. Viewers went nuts after seeing the former Miami City Ballet dancer, Alex Wong, partner with Twitch to do a hip-hop performance on June 30th. When Mia Michaels, who doesn't hand out compliments often, called Twitch "the best in the business," she was serious. And Twitch has proven over and over again that he's at the top of his dancing game.

Check out the top five performances with Twitch from Season 4.

Routine 5 Twitch, Joshua Allen, William Wingfield, Gev Manoukian and Mark Kanemura dancing to Joe Jackson's "Five Guys Named Moe" (choreography by Nigel Lythgoe and Chuck Maldonado)

This was definitely my favorite season of the show because all of my favorites made it to the top. Plus, I finally got to see Twitch, Joshua and Will dance together. I'd fallen for gorgeous Will after seeing the Alicia Keys "You'll Never See Me Again" performance, which reminded me of Tupac's music video "I Ain't Mad at Cha." Mark was entertaining in the most quirky way, plus he killed Sonya Tayeh's "The Garden" choreography with Courtney so I was elated to see him in the top five. This performance was categorized as Broadway, but it had Greek-style stepping in it. As much as I loved the stepping, I was more entertained to see Twitch jump into Mark's arms.

Routine 4 Twitch and Comfort Fedoke dancing to Chris Brown's "Forever" (choreography by Dave Scott)

Viewers already knew that Comfort was very talented at hip-hop routines, and we were waiting for them to work together. Even during rehearsal, both dancers kept pushing each other to do painful and difficult steps like the knee-sliding dance towards the front of the stage. Your thigh game has to be serious to pull that one off. Watching them challenge each other in practice with Dave Scott was more entertaining than the actual performance, but both dancers were impressive.

Routine 3 Twitch's solo to Kay L's "Go to Work"

Clearly he's a fan of this song because it's on his website at TheOfficialTwitch.com. I loved how he hopped on the stage to perform to Kool & The Gang's "Hollywood Swinging," but I enjoyed this solo more because it showed his dancing originality. He got to rock the "T" on his chest, similar to his favorite superhero Superman. He Moonwalked, popped and locked across the stage. He did this slick backwards slide to the "zoom zoom" part while throwing up his upside down four on his shoulder. He even took a minute to acknowledge the crowd by dancing around while clapping their hands. Twitch's solos were the first and only solos I've ever recorded because I enjoyed them as much as I did his partner dances.

Routine 2 Twitch and Courtney Galiano dancing to T-Pain's "Church" (choreography by Tabitha and Napoleon)

Twitch gets slapped across the jaw, punched in the balls, hit in the mouth and popped upside the head all for trying to have a night on the town. It's one of the most comical, funky domestic disputes I've ever seen. Courtney definitely held her own in this piece, but she was consistently great at hip-hop routines with the winner, Joshua Allen, too. When Twitch walked behind her and started popping and gyrating behind her with his tongue sticking out, hip-hop clubheads everywhere went "Heeey!" In a survey with FOX, he said people would be surprised to know he's "naturally shy and a bit quiet." Could've fooled me!

Routine 1 Twitch and Katee Shean dancing to Duffy's "Mercy" (choreography by Mia Michaels)

Speaking of domestic disputes, Twitch got beat up by the female dancers a lot. But this performance got him an Emmy nomination. The concept was a woman was fed up with all the games and her no-good boyfriend. While she's letting him know she's done with him but still loves him, he's basically treating her like a joke. Katee gets mad. He stands there looking cool with his wife beater, top hat and cigarette. She gets mad again. He kisses her on the mouth. She kicks and screams. He locks the door and starts dancing around it. This routine was incredibly physical with him dancing while holding her head, hopping over her in a doorway, she ropes her legs around his neck and hangs from the door. I was more impressed that the door prop didn't fall down with all the banging, swinging, hopping and leaning the dancers did on it.

While I did like these five routines the most, Twitch really could do no wrong with me. He was versatile, fun, humble and seemed to be having a great time onstage. I still haven't picked a favorite between his performance with Alex Wong or Katee Shean, but what I do know is Twitch is by far my favorite SYTYCD dancer.
