Quarterback Rankings for the 2011 NFL Draft
No.1. Andrew Luck- Stanford
Andrew Luck is the best quarterback in the 2011 NFL draft and I have him as the first pick in my mock draft. Luck has the advantage of playing in a pro style offense and of being a classic drop back passer but with fine mobility. If Luck declares for the 2010 NFL draft he will go number one overall.
No2. Ryan Mallett- Arkansas
Mallett is huge at 6ft 6 and has a knack for making big plays in the passing attack. Mallett has some mechanical flaws that need to be addressed but nothing major that I can see. Mallett needs a good offensive line more than some quarterbacks due to his very limited mobility.
No.3. Jake Locker- Washington
Jake Locker may not be ready to play as a rookie but I think he will be a fine NFL quarterback, given time to develop. Locker's upside is huge Locker has the size and mobility needed but his accuracy is questionable and he has thrown too many interceptions in his college career. But based on his potential, Jake Locker ranks number three on my list of the top five quarterbacks in the 2011 NFL draft.
No.4. Nick Foles- Arizona
Foles is an accurate quarterback but perhaps not as accurate as his completion percentage shows. Foles throws a lot of short safe passes but heck there is nothing wrong with that. Foles is like Mallett in that he isn't very mobile. Foles may do well in a west coast offense that would love his dink and plink style.
No.5. Cam Newton- Auburn
Newton will probably declare for the 2011 NFL draft after the poo hit the fan about his possibly asking for money to play college ball. Cam Newton is of the new breed of quarterbacks some think will be the next generation of signal callers. Athletic quarterbacks who can run and make big plays. I love the fact that Cam Newton has not thrown many interceptions but I have still not seen enough of him as a passer. Of course character concerns will steer a few teams away from Cam Newton but certainly not all of them. And as you can see here spread offense quarterbacks are seldom prepared for life in the NFL. Still Cam Newton makes my list of the top five quarterbacks in the 2011 NFL draft.

Post a CommentWhy is everyone sold on Jake Locker? No offense to the guy, but he is no where near how good these "analysts" say he is. I've watched him play last year and this year and he has not impressed me to be anywhere close to the first round. 2nd - 3rd round is where I think he belongs.
Okay...dink and plink? Gotta call the nephew, lol!
Yeah, we figure Cam will go pro sooner than expected after all the mess too.
