Nerds are one of the last social groups that it's ok to make fun of. Movies like American Pie and Superbad continue the stereotype of the nerd as a socially awkward brainiac who serves as the clueless comic relief to the film's good looking star.
What many people don't know is that nerds are the best kept secret in the world. Women who decide to date a nerd often find them to be very attentive and engaging lovers. Here are five reasons why you should think about dumping that jock and picking up a nerd.
They're willing to try new things: Nerds are naturally curious creatures. They are well-read enough to know that there's a big world outside the confines of your home town and they are willing, often eager, to see it. Whether your idea of a fun date is a trip to the opera or a monster truck rally, your nerdy boyfriend will be willing to give it a try at least once. He may not like it but the more likely scenario is that he'll like it in different ways than you expected. He may sing "Kill the Wabbit!" on the way home from the opera or spend the monster truck rally computing weight/trajectory ratios but he'll go along willingly and happily.
Better loving through SCIENCE!: Women who date nerds often report them to be extremely creative lovers. There's a very good reason for this. When a nerd wants to know something, his scientific mind voraciously reads up on the subject. By the third date or so, your nerd has already anticipated the eventual bedroom encounter and has been stockpiling information. He's probably read every book on the subject he could find, rented every instructional adult video available, and plotted out every scenario in his mind. What he likely lacks in real world experience he often more than makes up for in theoretical knowledge. Where many men can't be bothered to locate the G Spot, your nerd has likely already printed up a Google Map to it, just in case.
Your parents will like him: One of the most incorrect stereotypes of nerds is that they have no social skills. While most nerds are ill equipped to deal with the social environment of high school, years of being pantsed by the pulling guard has honed their survival instinct to seek out and befriend adults in authority. In high school this usually translates to teachers and administrators. As adults, most nerds are also very engaging of their girlfriends' parents. Mom and dad will like his steady job, his attentiveness to you, and his respectful nature. Your nerd will enjoy making a good impression.
Bad habits gone good: For most women, their boyfriends inviting them for a "night out drinking" brings up visions of cases of Bud Light, loud men screaming at sports, and smoky bars with bad food. When a nerd invites you to a night out drinking, you might be taken to a wine tasting or to a little brew pub that you never knew about. It goes back to the nerd's curious nature. He wants to try new things and would like nothing more than for you to join him. Better yet, the nerd almost certainly has a fellow nerd friend who doesn't drink at all and is more than happy to serve as designated driver.
Jealousy? What Jealousy?: Women who date nerds are often surprised that they don't experience any of the jealousy and insecurity they've seen in their former relationships. If you want to spend a night out with your friends, your nerd will not call you ten times wanting to know what you're doing. He'll assume you're doing exactly what you say you are because he will be too. Nerds understand the need for personal time and likely welcome it for themselves as well. Most women return from a girl's night out to find their nerds happily playing World of Warcraft while surrounded by Mountain Dew cans.

Post a CommentI am dating a "nerd" and he really is the sweetest guy I've ever met. Once you try it you start to think: why didn't I think of this before?
Okay - you've done pretty good with this one!
