San Diego is a popular vacation destination on the West Coast of the United States. Located a little over an hour from the Mexican border, San Diego is a beach city that offers a wide array of activities to visitors. Regardless of whether visitors are there for romance, adventure, relaxation or any other reason, they'll find something to do in San Diego.

San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is one of the most famous zoos in the world, and with good reason. With nine zones containing 34 exhibits spanning 100 acres. There are over 4,000 living at the San Diego Zoo, accounting for over 800 different species. The ticket cost is $40 per adult and $30 per child (ages 3-11) for a one day pass. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online prior to travel.

Sea World San Diego
Sea World San Diego offers 16 exhibits, eleven shows and eight rides for visitors of all ages. Guests can choose from seven different tours and three animal interactions, which is additional to the admission fee. Sea World San Diego even offers four different camp choices: Residential (where you live at Sea World), day camps, sleepovers and group camps. Throughout the year, special events are offered, such as Spring into Night, Viva la Musica and Halloween Nights.

Pacific Surf School
California is known for surfing. What people do not usually realize is that surfing is most popular in San Diego. Pacific Surf School opened in 1997 in Mission Beach, California, which is in the greater San Diego area. Aspiring surfers can take lessons privately, semi-privately or in a group. Rates range from $55 for one group lesson all the way up to $374 for five private lessons. They even offer overnight camping experiences.

Cabrillo National Monument
Juan Cabrillo was the first European to step on land on the West Coast of the United States. Cabrillo National Monument and the surrounding park commemorates and tells the story of Cabrillo's exploration in the sixteenth century. The cost is just $5 per car or $3 per walk-ins, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Every Fall there is the Cabrillo Festival, which re-enacts Cabrillo's first steps in San Diego. Throughout the year, guests can take guided tours, hike, cycle, bird watch, whale watch and so much more.

La Jolla Kayak
If you are looking for a more active recreational activity in San Diego, look to La Jolla Kayak. This outdoor adventure company offers tours and excursions via kayaking, biking and snorkeling. Located on La Jolla Shores Beach, adventure-seekers can visit the most photographed beach in Southern CAlifornia as they are arranging their activities for the day.
