1. The Coffee Cup Café
So where did the Coffee Cup get its name? Well, many years ago people would come to the Coffee Cup during breakfast or for their lunch break. They would bring their coffee cups with them and would end up leaving without them. Many would never end up coming back for them so the owners decided to display them and at the same time figured out what to name the restaurant.
The Coffee Cup has a nice small town restaurant atmosphere. Numerous memorabilia and pictures of past town events cover the walls and show some of our town's history. There are also many interesting paintings that cover the walls.
I must say that the Coffee Cup Café is one of my local favorites. It is a wonderful place to take your mother on Mother's Day, your father on Father's Day, or any other occasion you may see fit. The food is what one would term good all American food. There are numerous items to choose for breakfast. These include eggs with hash browns, the Boardwalk Sandwich, bagels with cream cheese, ham with eggs, French toast, and more. Lunch dishes include chicken fingers, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and much more. This restaurant is not about fine dining but it sure has some wonderful all American food.
The Coffee Cup is located at 512 Nevada Hwy. in a premier location in downtown Boulder City near numerous shops and parks. The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. so get there early. Prices are very reasonable and run under $10. For more information, call 294-0517.
2. Toto's Mexican Restaurant
If you are in town, your stomach will not stop growling, and you have a hankering for some good Mexican food, Toto's is an excellent choice for food stop. This place really does have the real Mexican experience.
One walks through attractive wooden doors into a restaurant with a real Mexican atmosphere. Mexican music can be heard around the restaurant and the smell of the delicious food fills the air. The decoration of the restaurant gives it a certain appeal.
The menu at Toto's provides the most traditional of Mexican foods. Some of the great meals that come to mind are tamales, numerous salads, chimichangas, burritos, nachos, and rice and beans. My favorite dish at the restaurant happens to be the taco salad.
Prices for the meals run anywhere from under $10 to as much as $20. For more information, call 293-1744. It is located at 806 Buchanan Blvd. in Boulder City, NV.
3. Hacienda Steakhouse in Hacienda Hotel/Casino
Hacienda Steakhouse is one of the two fine dining locations in Boulder City. It is a truly wonderful place and the staff places the utmost importance on the customer. The design of the restaurant is attractive and the food is delectable. The restaurant serves some of the best chicken and steak dinners in town. I had their steak and I must say it was very tasty.
Prices generally run between $20 and $40 dollars. The restaurant hours are from Wednesday-Sunday 4-10 p.m. For more information call 293-5000.
4. Grandma Daisy's
Grandma Daisy's is not a restaurant, but it is Boulder City's very own old fashioned candy shop. It looks just like the ones in the fifties and sixties. It has some wonderful candy, ice cream, and fudge. The choices include truffles, licorice, dipped chocolates, caramel apples, and salt water taffy. I must confess that I have a weakness for their milkshakes. If you go here, you will hit the candy jackpot.
Prices are under $10. It is located at 501 A Hotel Plaza in downtown Boulder City.
5. Evan's OldTown Grille
Last but certainly not least on out tour of Boulder City restaurants is Evan's Old Town Grille. When I first stepped into this place, I was really impressed. Everything is just so clean and the staff is really friendly. The menu is varied and there is a lot to choose from. Some of the sandwiches served are turkey avocado, Reuben, triple decker club, and gyro. The Dinner Entrees include chicken Parmesan, king salmon, prime rib, shrimp scampi, and more.
The restaurant is located in downtown Boulder City at 1129 Arizona Street. Prices run between $10 and $20. Hours are from Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, call 294-0100.
