Top Five Tech Tidbits of 2008

Sylvester Hokes
As this year of technological innovation comes to a close, I'd like to wrap up all the juiciest morsels for easy consumption.

5.) Rube Golderg Coin Bank: Saving money has never been more fun, and 2008 has given us plenty of reasons to do it, so why not have a piggy bank that makes saving a little more fun. There's finally a way for the avergae Joe to watch their money go to work, even if it's only a few cents. Recommended customers: People who like shiny things and don't believe in bank accounts. Top accessory? Coin rollers.

4.) SurfJet- the Motorized Surfboard: Love to surf, but the only body of water for miles is a lake? This one's for you. Proof that you don't need waves to wipe out, this flatwater floater will have you cruising across any still body of water. Ideal for the surf junky who just moved to the mainland.

3.) Eye Jewelry: A contact lens that has stuff dangling from it. I get the heeby-jeebies every time I see this thing. The only good thing I have to say about this is that you'll probably never lose your contact again. This is definitely not the kind of jewelry that will attract the opposite sex, and if it does- run! Ideal Customer: Goths, and anyone who likes to freak people out.

2.)Laser Television: Nothing screams awesome like combining High Definition television with a frickin' laser! Better yet, it produces incredible images and uses much less energy than an LCD television. Mitsubishi is going to be making these things, but only in the monsterous sizes of 65" and 72." The ideal customer has loads of cash and loves home theater.

1.) Chinese Soldiers On Segways: These guys were on patrol during the Beijing Olympics, and these pictures of them really cracked me up, so I had to include them. These dudes may be deadly serious, but hopefully you'll die of laughter before they start shooting. The most incredible thing about this is that they can steer their Segways without hands. The funniest thing? It looks like they have to pee!

There you have it- my five favorite finds of 2008, all in descending order, just they we like 'em here in internet land.
