Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune began as a risky venture for PlayStation 3. With no adrenaline-pumping title backing its name (think Modern Warfare, Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto) Uncharted wasn't a guaranteed hit.
But fans ate it right up - and rightly so.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune makes the list for several reasons, the first of which is the adventurous plot woven into the script, which features a dashing hero (Nate Drake) and sidekicks (Elena and Sully) who surface and disappear at will. Players are taken on a Caribbean adventure in Panama, where Nate searches for a lost statue in an attempt to complete a mission of his forefather's, Francis Drake.
Nate, Elena and Sully battle pirates, mercenaries, armed treasure seekers and demonic creatures to reach their goal of finding the cursed treasure. Players will enjoy intricate Caribbean graphics, which detail every leaf, animal, artifact and structure throughout each scene of the game.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves doesn't necessarily pick up where the last game left off. Players will be fine starting the new Drake adventure without having previously played its predecessor.
Nate joins his comrades in search of the Cintimanti Stone in the fabled city of Shangri-La. Drake attempts to take up Marco Polo's journey to the Orient and battles zombie-like Guardians, heavily armored mercenaries and even his old pals through the Middle East and Mongolia.
Weapons in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are a big improvement from the first game. Grenades pack more punch, and Nate gets a wide array of gun choices, including an FN-FAL and a Gatling gun.
SingStar
SingStar is a great alternative to karaoke and gives players a chance to sing duets with each other during parties or get togethers.
If you don't like the songs that come in the SingStar pack, no big deal. Just get yourself another setlist. Players can choose from foreign songs, pop hits, hip hop tunes and even an ABBA songlist. The SingStar Store also offers individual song downloads for players who don't want to purchase a full pack of songs.
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Fans of The Dark Knight flock to Arkham Asylum for its dark humor, intricate plot and lengthy gameplay. Batman must conquer the Joker and escaped Arkham Asylum inmates on Gotham Island, all the while freeing most of Arkham's payroll, including Commissioner Gordon himself. If Batman doesn't succeed, Joker's scheme to wipe out Gotham Island in grotesque chemical warfare will be unleashed.
Game play during Arkham Asylum is optimal for those who enjoy hand to hand combat in video games. Batman earns lots of gadgets along the way, but doesn't get to use guns, knives or other conventional weaponry as his foes do. He must rely on batarangs, his cape, his muscle and escape instincts to survive and win the game.
Infamous
Infamous is a little bit underrated, but still a worthwhile game to play, especially if you don't like games with lengthy plots, such as the aforementioned Arkham Asylum and Uncharted installments.
Play the good guy or unleash your bad side as Cole in Infamous. Your mission is to fulfill the missions you're given - whether you agree with them or not. But you carry them out however you choose. You can beat up bad guys along the way or slash the innocents - but remember, you earn negative or positive "Karma" when doing so, which affects your Experience Points, or XP.
Graphics, while cool, aren't the focus in Infamous, and it's almost obvious. Your goal is to use your electrical and chemical powers to take control of the Empire City and seep the life out of your enemies. But if you were looking for a little vacation away from the dark and doom, opt for an Uncharted game instead.
