Just because you are a homeschooler, this does not mean that you do not have to prepare for the next school year. There is a lot that goes into homeschooling, and like every thing else a lot of prep is needed. Below you will find a list of five tips that will really help you to prepare for the next homeschool year.
Buy supplies in advance
The one thing that you don't want to do is have to run out every week to pick up additional supplies for school work, and projects. When the items go on sale during the back to school time, then you will want to take a trip and really stock up. Make a list of all the supplies that you need, and then pick them up. Buying all of these items in advance will also help you to stay on schedule for the school year as well.
Organize your work area
After surviving the first year of homeschooling, the first thing I learned was the importance of organizing your child's work area. Making sure that your child has a good work area will ensure that they are learning everything that they need to learn. It will also help them to learn good work skills. Make sure that you have a nice desk for your child to work on, and have an area to store all of their tools.
Plan your trips in advance
Class trips during the course of your home schooling year are really a must have. I have found that planning things out in advance will help things to run a lot smoother. You an also ensure that the trips you take go along with what your children are learning at the time.
Create a schedule
Creating a schedule for your hoemschooler to follow will ensure that the next school year will run smoothly. You can use your computer to create a daily schedule for your homeschooler to follow. You can easily make your own lesson plan book that will help you schedule assignments for your kids.
Schedule time for breaks
When you are home schooling your children it is very easy to get so worried about covering all of the school material, that you don't think a bout scheduling enough time for breaks during the school year. Most take breaks around their vacation time. By schedule breaks in advance you will be able to schedule your curriculum so that nothing is missed.
Decide on the length of your school year
First decide if you are going to be homeschooling for the entire year, or if you will be following the regular school year schedule.
