Atlanta Tourist Attractions #1 - The Atlanta Botanical Garden
Amid the hustle and bustle of Atlanta lies the tranquility of the Atlanta Botanical Garden. One of the most relaxing tourist attractions in Atlanta, the Atlanta Botanical Garden features over 30 acres of trees, plants and flowers. Exhibits include a Japanese garden, a children's garden, a rose garden, one of the world's largest orchid exhibits and much more. A popular feature is the canopy walk, where visitors can view gardens and other displays from 40 feet above. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is located in midtown at 1345 Piedmont Avenue.
Atlanta Tourist Attractions #2 - Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum
Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum is located in Grant Park in Atlanta. One of the best historical tourist attractions in Atlanta, the Cyclorama is a spectacular panoramic display that includes an 1885 painting that is 42 feet tall and 358 feet in circumference along with 3-dimensional figures and landscaping in the forefront. Visitors may view artifacts of the Civil War and an 1862 steam locomotive in the adjoining museum.
Atlanta Tourist Attractions #3 - CNN Center
CNN (Cable News Network) Center is the international headquarters of CNN and is located at 190 Marietta Street in Atlanta. Daily tours of this facility include a journey through the newsroom, the weather room, the special effects area and more. Visitors can also enjoy an exhibition of CNN historical relics.
Atlanta Tourist Attractions #4 - The Georgia Aquarium
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Atlanta for children is the Georgia Aquarium. It is located across from Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta on 225 Baker Street. The aquarium consists of over 8 million gallons of water which houses over 100,000 fish and marine animals. This aquarium is the world's largest. Visitors to the aquarium are also invited to a presentation with special effects in the aquarium's 4-D theatre. Their popular sleepovers are available for families and groups. Community volunteer opportunities are also offered.
Atlanta Tourist Attractions #5- World of Coca-Cola
Located in downtown Atlanta on 121 Baker Street in Atlanta, the World of Coca-Cola has the world's largest collection of Coca-Cola items on display. Visitors can also sample Coca-Cola brand drinks, see the bottling process, enjoy their 4-D theatre and more. A free bottle of Coca-Cola is given to each guest.
Other outstanding tourist attractions in Atlanta include Zoo Atlanta, the Road to Tara Museum, the Jimmy Carter Library, the Governor's Mansion, Fernbank Museum of Natural History and Underground Atlanta.
