Top Five Trading Card Game Video Games

Video game versions of collectible card games are convenient. You can acquire a decent collection of cards, and not have to worry about said cards taking up a lot of space. The best of the best in this turn bases genre are spread multiple pieces of hardware, so you're bound to have access to at least one of these games.

Monster Rancher: Battle Card GB.
Based on the Japanese cartoon(and Playstation games), Monster Rancher: Battle Card GB takes a detour from the core game play mechanics the series is known for. Instead of using your CD collection to get new(sometimes rare) monsters like in the PS1 game, you are subjected to a participating in collecting cards. I suppose it's hard to innovate on the Gameboy Color. This time around, you compete in three on three card battle, to acquire new cards from fallen opponents. Long time fans of the series will enjoy seeing some of their favorite characters represented in this serviceable Magic/Pokemon cash in title.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul.
I always thought something was not quite right about that Yugi kid... This GBA installment of the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! series features over 800 cards. Sounds quite impressive. If you are a collector of the cards in real life, you can simply use the passwords located on those to import them into your copy of this game. Pretty neat feature if you hate having to start out with a mediocre desk , when you have already beaten your fair share of scrubs on many occasion.

Metal Gear Ac!d 2.
In Metal Gear Ac!d2, Solid Snake must overcome his greatest threat yet: The Ape Escape monkey's! Actually, that would have easily made this the greatest card battle game of all time. Two great series, thrown together as some crazy world bending trading card game. As!d 2 is is actually one of the few legit reasons to own a Playstation portable. It's really a turn based strategy game, with card used to represent traps and actions your character can use to lay waste to his opposition. Too bad it's a PSP exclusive. A lot of people won't ever give this game a thought because the hardware it's shackled to..

SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters' Clash.
Two legendary gaming companies. The makers of Street Fighter, versus the the company brass enough to name their flagship series "The King of Fighters." Card Fighters clash is Pokemon: the collectible card game, for people who love Video games. Aside from the familiar fighting game characters you've expect to find plastered on cards, you'll also find characters from Mega Man(X, Roll, Rush), Metal Slug(Marco, Fio, Mars People), and a boat load of other amusing cameos. Easily the second best Neo Geo Pocket Color game(behind Match of the Millennium, naturally.)

Magic: The Gathering -- Online.
What can now be said about Magic that hasn't already? Magic Online is the perfect way to dominate fellow magic the Gathering players from long range. Perfect, that is, if your willing to pay real money for virtual cards. You can have your game cards redeemed for the real deal. Which sounded like a neat idea at the time, until Wizards of the Coast realized how much money it would cause them, and promptly made changes to the pricing of this service. The core game is still worth the price of admission regardless(Sorry Mac users, it's Windows only.)
