Top Five Ways to Store and Organize Your Coupons

Mrs. Renee

If you have chosen to jump on the couponing bandwagon, you have probably found yourself overwhelmed by the number of coupons you have. The key is all in the way that you organize the coupons to make them easy to locate. Below is a list of the top five ways that many have found to store their coupons.

Binder system

The binder system is one method that is one of the most popular systems for organizing coupons. After speaking with several moms who use this system, I found that many feel it is really the best way to organize everything. First you need a binder with a pack of card holders. You can then place the coupons into the card holders. Use tab dividers to separate the items per grocery isle in your local supermarket. If you don't want a large binder to get started than a small binder is great to get started.

Coupon clutch

A nylon coupon holder is cheap and easy to use. You can find these anywhere and they can hold a stack of coupons. These coupon holders are the ones that have been used for years. Some of the moms I spoke with found these types of coupon holders to be on the old fashioned side. You will have to use paper clips with this method to make it easier to separate the items.

Recipe box

A regular recipe box is perfect for storing your coupons. You can use paper clips with this method to separate them as well. Or if you prefer you can use index cards to separate the coupons, and add some tab dividers to the index cards. Some like to color the index cards to help identify the different sections. Just keep your recipe box in an area where you can see it. Visit your local Wal-Mart store, to see if you can get a recipe box on sale, and save yourself even more money.

The shoebox method

The shoebox method works wells, for those who don't want to spend the extra money on a separate filing system. A regular shoebox will hold a nice amount of coupons. You easily divide them up by using paper clips to sort and organize your coupons.

The envelop method

An even simpler method is the envelope system. You can very easily place your coupons in an envelope and label the envelope. You can have a different envelop for the variety of coupons that you have. For example coupons for paper products can go in one envelop, and coupons for cereal or breakfast products can go into another envelope.
