Top Five of What's New: Comics July 22nd

The Comics Coming Out This Week that You Should Take a Chance On..

Grant Bracken
Every week almost a hundred new comic books come out on Wednesday to a cluttered and busy comic store near you. If you are fan of comics you already have your favorites. Those comics you just can't do with out and if your smart those are already waiting in your pull box. Still you at the store you might as well look around and see what's new. This is the first of many weekly guides to help you decide on what new comics might be worth taking a chance for. Theses are my top five new releases for the forth week in August starting Monday the 20th. You can fine these comics and all the other new releases for this week at www.comiclist.com

5) 100 Bullets #1 Crime Sampler

100 Bullets has been a great series that has been published by Vertigo for years now. When it's good, its crime noir at some of its best and it has stayed good through most of the series. If you have never read it most likely you have been meaning to. Well now you can buy the first issue for only a dollar. But that's not all, included in this special issues are previews of some new crime series coming to Vertigo soon.

4) Citizen Rex # 1

This science fiction adult themed noir is having its first issue sent out this week and it looks pretty interesting. The story is about Sergio Bauntin who is a writer in a future where robots are becoming out of fashion, body modification is in fashion and the city has a force of secret investigators called the Truth Takers. Sergio gets himself in over his head when he starts hearing reports of a famous robot CTZ-RX, long thought to be out of commission. This bizarre but cool story it put together by famous team Gilbert and Mario Hernandez.

3) Important Weapons #1

If you're a fan of the amazing comic Immortal Iron Fist than you have heard of Fat Cobra. If you have not read any Iron Fist yet Fat Cobra is a sumo wrestler who has been a mighty warrior and very lively character in the Seven Capital Cities of Heavy story arc. Now we get to learn this characters origin in his own five-issue series. The Iron Fist will also be making guest appearances in these stories. Iron Fist has a great team behind him right now and in my opinion it is a comic that should not be missed.

2) Jack of Fables #36

I will be the first to admit that I am kind of a sucker for anything that comes out of the Vertigo Fables series. I have been a big fan for a long time and I have really started to like Jack of Fables. If you don't know the series Jack is the same Jack who climbed up the bean stalk and jumped over the candlestick. Except he lives in our world now and gets into all sorts of interesting adventures including this issue where he ends up in Africa and becomes king of the apes for a while. This story is a stand-alone issue so it's a great time to give it a try. If you like it at all I recommend getting the graphic novels of the entire Jack adventures so far.

1) Amazing Spiderman #600

Now that we get a dose of Spiderman every week it can be easy to take the web slinger for granted. Still he is one of the greatest comic icons and should not be ignored. If you have not been reading for a while now will be the time for this issues promises all sorts of thrills and adventure. There are rumors of a surprise wedding. Not to mention both Doc Oct and Daredevil will be showing up to congratulate Spidey on 600 issues.
