Top Four Fathers Day Ideas for Adventurous Dad

Fathers Day is fast approaching and like many of you out there I get tired of the same old ideas for Dad. You know what I mean, another tie he will never wear and a sappy card that he probably will not remember. And if your husband or father is anything like mine you will be scratching your head at the last minute saying what could I do to make my adventurous dad jump up and down? Below you will find some gift ideas for the adventurous man in your life.

1) Skydiving Lessons!! What wild and wooly adventure dad would not love a chance to jump out of a perfectly good airplane? I know mine would love it! Now where to find those pesky lessons? First place I looked was online, there are many sites dedicated to this sort of thing and there is tons of information on technique and gear required. The best place to get local information is at your nearest airport. Seems like a duh kind of moment there seeing how you need an airplane to do this but there you go it was not the first place I thought to look.

2) Hunting excursions are always a crowd favorite! Find out what your sportsman dad has always wanted to hunt and then google away baby! My husband and I found many online sites dedicated to guided hunts. Problem is the are really expensive. So if you are working on a budget here are a few suggestions. First and most obvious is to research the type of game you want to hunt. For this exercise lets say its mule deer. Well I just so happen to have an uncle who lives in a state that has mule deer. So I would call up uncle "Bob" and see if he would mind some company during deer season. Of course he would love to see his favorite niece so lodging is set. But that is not the end of the story is it? We now need permits and a place to hunt. Permits can be obtained by looking at the states game and fish commission web site. All instructions will be there and you simply follow their advice. Hint: Get your applications in early as some areas have limited out of state permits they will give out. Next talk to your dear relative about hunting clubs in the area if he doesn't know of any kindly ask him to research it for you. Now if you have no relatives in the area it can still be done but it may be a bit trickier. Same process for permits but now you will need lodging and hunting grounds. I suggest you find a small town say 25,000 people or so to stay in. You can get all the information to call for reservations online, google or anywho should work just fine. Next take out an ad in the local paper for land to hunt or possible access to a hunting club for the season. Warning: Be very careful and do not give out personal information such as your address or credit card number until you can verify they are legit. Ask for references if no other third party verification can be found. Or call the local grocery store and ask if anyone has ever heard of "Big Bucks Are Us". Again you can find numbers in a good ole search.

3) Race Car Driving Lessons! If your father is anything like my husband the chance to drive 150 miles an hour around and around in a circle will plaster a smile on his face for months. Dad must be extra good for this one because the estimated cost for such an endeavor ranges from 1500.00 for a one day combo up to 4000.for a three day training. Note the price does not include airfare, hotel or meals, school only. But hey is anything to much for dear ole dad? I didn't think so! The best resource I found for this was at Skip Barbers school of racing. http://www.skipbarber.com/

4) If all the above are a bit out of your price range never rule out some good old fashioned family fun at the local go kart track! It may not be an indie car but trust me dad will still love it more than another stinkin tie. Happy Fathers Day!!

I'll speak for the guys, we love fast things and something we can shoot. We're a pretty simple gender.

My dad would love race car driving lessons. He is a total Nascar fan and has been to a few races. Nascar tickets would be a great idea for him...
