Consumers often make a few mistakes day to day regarding their finances. You may be quite surprised to find out the top five financial mistakes that people make that turn their life upside down. Here are the top five four mistakes that people often make.

Consumers Don't Reduce Entertainment Expenses

Consumers often don't reduce unnecessary expenses that occurs each month. Entertainment is something that people have a difficult time giving up. Do you really need to watch over 200 channels on satellite TV each month? No. You have to decide between entertainment and keeping a roof over head. You shouldn't spend money on entertainment when you have trouble paying rent or medicine.

Consumers Don't Pay Rent

You have one priority to keep a roof over your head. Nobody in the world is going to pay your rent except for you. Nobody is going to feel sorry for you when you tell them that you decided to spend the rent money on something else unless it is a life or death situation. The main focus each month should be for you to pay the rent each month no matter what. It is very important to have a place to sleep during the summer and winter. A place with no heater is better than sleeping outside.

Consumers Don't Have a Trade Skill

Do whatever that is legal to earn money to provide enough income to take care of you and kids. You should always have a trade to fall back on to earn income during tough times. There is always a trade out there that people still need people to work in today. Healthcare is pretty stable right now. Teachers and tutors are still in high demand while kids complete each year.

Consumers Don't Eliminate Junk Expenses

I call junk expenses anything from candy to cigarettes. Potato chips are another form of junk food. Fast food is another source of junk expense as well. We really don't need junk expenses in our life during tough times. We will free up more of the income when we decide to eliminate junk expenses in every part of the budget. Add up the total that you spend on junk expenses and stop spending to squeeze out more money.
