Before you buy stock, you need to research a company by either reading a newspaper or going online. While doing your research, you should find a stock that you can afford, and that has a history of making a profit.

Once you know what stock you want to buy, call up the company's investor relations department and purchase your stock. The investor relations department's phone number is usually easily listed on the company's website. For those budget conscience buyers, you can buy stock ranging from $7 - $30 per share. With the market ever changing you can purchase stock when it's cheap, wait and few weeks until the price increases, then sale your stock for a profit. However, if you want guidance with maintaining your stock, you can hire a broker who will advise you and manage your stocks for a commission.

PAY YOURSELF

There are certain things we do for people just because we are good at it, and perhaps without charging. Some talents may include, doing hair, babysitting, preparing meals, making jewelry, costumes, mowing lawns, writing papers, and tutoring. Being that time is money; there is no reason why you could not be charging for your products, or services. To make sure eveyone realizes that you are businessperson now, you may want to start advertising with flyers, ads in the newspapers, or internet, along with getting some business cards.

However, if you prefer a more traditional work environment, you could get a part-time job on the weekends. Many fulltime employees work part-time at department stores. Working part-time is also a good way to make extra money, because employees also get store discounts that comes in handy during the holiday and school-shopping season.

Using the old adage one-person's trash is another person's treasure could make you some extra cash. If you have a closet full of clothes that are in good condition, but you do not want them, take them to a thrift/second hand store. The store will offer you money right on the spot, based on how much they think they can resale your item for - if you have good negotiating skills this could be a quick way to make some additional income. However, if you take your items to a consignment store, you will get the money after the items are sold. Either way you are making money with a minimum amount of work.

GO GREEN

If you have been thinking about ways you can start helping the environment, recycling is a good start. Recycling is almost effortless, being that you already bought and used the product, why not take the extra step and return the container for some money. Examples of items we all use daily are water bottles, juice bottles, milk cartoons, soda cans, beer cans and newspapers. To make your transaction more convenient many recycling centers are located in the parking lot of major grocery stores. Once your items are weighed, you are given a receipt to take inside the grocery stores. Give the receipt to the cashier and get some money. Now, recycling may not help you pay off your major bills, but it could buy you a weeks worth of coffee beverages or lunches.
