Top Gifts for 13 to 16 Year Old Boys

Fiona Johnson
Buying gifts for teenager boys can be a time consuming task, especially for the "out of touch" parent or adult. Teenagers tend to be fickle and the new fad changes constantly. With all this mind changing, it's almost impossible to know exactly what a teenager would like to receive. However, I have been privy to some inside information on what teenage boys are raving about for the 2006 holiday season. Take notes and if you can not find a specific product, search for similar ones or other items on the list you think they will like.

First on the list is the S2000 Video Game Rocker by Pyramat. This chair is for gamers of all ages and skill levels and not only allows for a comfy seat while playing but has awesome game enhancing features as well. Some of the features this chair has are two 12-watt speakers, a 30-watt, 5.5-inch subwoofer, and a built-in 35-watt amplifier. It is compatible with PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PSP, iPod, TVs, VCRs, DVDs and MP3 players. It is easily stored by folding it but it has a study hardwood frame. You can find the S2000 Video Game Rocker online and at some major retail stores, it retails for $129.99, and it is recommended for ages 8 and up.

Next on the list is Voit Competition Soccer Table by Lion Sports, Inc. Most boys love sport, and even the ones that don't love to play on game tables. This table soccer game features study construction, a full apron, and three player goalies. This game table is sure to offer years of fun for the entire family with additional features such as manual scoring and automatic ball return, and 4-1/16" Blue Team/Red Team ABS Players. The Voit Competition Soccer Table is recommended for ages 8 and up, retails for $99.99, and can be purchased online and in some major retail stores.

Prepaid cell phones and refill cards are a big hit with teenagers right now because they can control and pay for them by themselves. If you are not a parent or guardian of the teen you should always run the idea by them first to make sure they are in agreement with it. Prepaid cell phones have no contract, no monthly bill, and no credit check. There are slues of carriers that offer prepaid cell phones and you can get more information on prepaid cell phones and which carriers service your area by visiting http://www.prepaidcellphoneguide.com.

MP3 players are the new CD player for this generation and every teen has to have one. There are several other choices than the extremely expensive ones you've seen showcased on televisions and retail store ads. Apple has an iPod shuffle for $69.99 or you can go with a dual MP3 player and CD player from Philips for $39.99. There are lot of options and price ranges out there so if you're unsure of what you're looking for talk to a qualified sales associate at an electronics store. Just make sure they do not try and convince you that an extremely expensive MP3 player is the only way to go. Be straight forward and tell them, "I am looking for an MP3 player for my (fill in age) year old son and it needs to be under (fill in price)." Stick to your guns and if you have trouble ask to talk to another associate.

Teenage boys are not all alike and some may not fit into specific stereotypes. These gifts are however what are hot for teenage boys for the 2006 holiday season and you can always use the products listed as a sounding board for your own ideas. Just bear in mind that the process of buying a gift is the most special part; having someone know that you care enough to personally pick something you think they will love is a gift in itself.
