Top Gifts for a High School Graduate

Kay Adams
Graduating high school is a very important milestone in any persons life. It typically means that they are now adults and it's time to move out of their parents homes. It can be a scary time for those that do move out on their own. Some graduates stick around much longer than their parents want them to, while still others head off to college the following year. Whichever, path they choose, these gift ideas are sure to please.

Gift Card
Think about what the graduate likes. If you have seen them wear a certain brand of clothing, buy them that gift card. If you have no clue as to what they like, you can always ask their parents. You usually can't go wrong with a gift card to Best Buy or a store like Dillard's. They have many things at both of these stores that would interest most people.

Money
I'm sure this one doesn't surprise anybody, but I couldn't leave it off the list. Money seems to be the most sought after, and the most given gift. The graduate will be able to save the money they receive for their graduation for something big down the line. Or, they may just want to spend it one something fun right away. Either way, money seems to be the best received gift of all time for graduates.

Help Them Out With A Bill
If you feel that your money would be better spent if you actually knew where it was going, and that it would actually help the graduate more, then just pay one of their bills for them. Most young graduates don't have many bills but two that they might have are car insurance, and cell phone. This may not seem like the best gift, but when the due date for their bill rolls around and they don't have to come up with the money to pay it, they will be thanking you again. Another type of bill would be gas. You could always get them a gas card with a set amount of money on it.

Season Passes To A Nearby Amusement Park or Pool
This is probably the graduates last summer to spend with all his/her friends before life carries everyone away. With season passes, they can spend all summer soaking up the last of their high school memories.

Camera
A camera is always a great gift, especially for someone who is about to enter the world with fresh eyes. A camera can capture their last summer moments before their journey into the real world. It can also capture the ups and downs that they will encounter as they realize that they are now adults.

Take Or Send Them On A Trip
If you have plenty of money you could always splurge and send them on an unforgettable trip. It would be a great way for the graduate to begin their adult life. To take in life and the culture of another place is great for anybody.

If you know where the graduate is going in life, you can always cater your gift to meet their needs. For example, if they are going off to college next year, you could buy them things for their dorm. Or, if they are going to travel for a while, you could get them luggage or other travel gear. No matter what though, you can always resort to the faithful card stuffed with money.
