If you read my last crafting article, Upcycling Taking the Crafting World By Storm, then you already know that reusing and recycling is nothing new in the world of crafting. However, now more than ever, with the renewed popularity of green living, crafters are finding ways to be even more eco-friendly with their work.

Given that we live in a consumerist society that creates a lot of waste, many crafters have taken it upon themselves to constantly reduce, reuse, and recycle. They are also taking it to the world wide web with their own inspiration and green living blogs. These blogs are providing readers with great crafting ideas while helping local artists and the environment.

Top Green Blog #1: Ethikl

Ethikl is a market place specifically for handmade, ethically sourced, and fair trade products that are bought directly from the crafters themselves. Nothing on this site is mass produced and social networking features allow the customers and artisans to communicate one on one. The best part about this website is that they provide great articles on how to buy and make organic, cruelty free, recycled, and local products.

Top Green Crafting Blog #2: Ruffles and Stuff

A self-described crafting and inspiration blog, Ruffles and Stuff gives its readers great ideas on how to upcycle old clothes into new masterpieces. The website also provides tutorials, tips and tricks, and even had an eBook entitled "Celebrating Mom: A Collection of Handmade Gifts For the Mothers in Our Lives"

Thrifty and green is nothing new in the world of Etsy. But sometimes, there is just too much to look through in order to find that perfect 100% eco-friendly handmade product. Team Eco Etsy makes it easy by digging through Etsy to find some of the best eco friendly handmade crafts. They also provide great eco-tips and eco-news.

Top Green Crafting Blog #5: Handmade News

Handmade News is the largest co-op super blog of all things crafty that touches upon anything from marketing techniques to craft trends. One part in particular that is always growing is the Green Wise section where they provide readers with great ideas and tips to go green through their crafting. Additionally, they also provide green marketing, green producing, and green living strategies.

These green crafting blogs are doing their part in spreading the green living message and educating others through their craft. With some green ideas from this great blogs and a little elbow grease you can do the same.
