Top Halloween Costumes of 2008

Batman - Since The Dark Knight has become so popular, I imagine every child wants to be either Batman or Heath Ledger's Joker. Well, no villain costume is complete without the hero. There isn't a better costume than the Batman costume offered by many online websites. It reminds me of when my mother put together my very own Batman costume when I was child. We didn't buy it from any shore, my mom pieced it together using black vinyl. But I wouldn't suggest anyone try to make an authentic Batman costume from scratch. I do however recommend checking out the costume websites listed below.

The Joker - The Dark Knight may not have been so popular if it wasn't for the incredible performance of Heath Ledger. His Joker was haunting in his insanity and terrifying in his cultural observations. He doesn't have the same great laugh as Jack Nicholson, but the strength of his performance had nothing to do with specific characteristics. Although, I do recommend dressing up like Jack Nicholson's Joker. Both performances were great in their own way and I believe Nicholson looks a lot more like The Joker in the comic book. Which ever Joker you choose to be, I imagine you'll be very popular come Halloween.

Indiana Jones - He's returned to the big screen this summer. Henry Jones Jr. or Indiana Jones had hat, whip, shirt, jacket and pants. These are all of the things you'll need to make yourself or someone else look like the greatest whip-lashing action hero in movie history. Sure, the film wasn't the best of the series, but it certainly brought back great memories from previous Indiana Jones adventures. I think you or your child will be very popular as Indiana Jones trick-or-treating or any Halloween party.

Iron Man - Another great superhero movie of the summer, Iron Man re-introduced the incredibly rich, incredibly passionate character of Tony Stark aka Iron Man into popular culture. I'm not sure you can make or buy your very own iron costume, but you certainly can find some way for you or your children to celebrate Halloween as Iron Man. I'm sure they've got some great plastic costumes available. But certainly, Iron Man is a great idea.

The Incredible Hulk - The movies haven't been all that great, but going to a Halloween party or trick-or-treating as The Incredible Hulk is a dream. If you can find the right stuff to make yourself look like the green giant, you'll be the green light at the party and your children may even glow in the dark when they're trick-or-treating. Just check out the websites below to find the best deal on the best Hulk costume.

Scarecrow - He's not say as popular as The Joker, but Scarecrow was a part of the recent Batman films. You may not be as well recognized, but you might freak some people out with your Scarecrow costume. They sell the masks at any number of the websites below. You might have to find the rest of the costume somewhere else.

Two-Face - Harvey Dent aka Two-Face was a part of The Dark Knight. The CGI work done on Aaron Eckhart's face was phenomenal if you ask me. But you won't be able to duplicate the effect perfectly. You might be able to paint your face or your child's face to look somewhat like it. And you just might find the right mask or latex application to look even better.

Mutt - He's Indiana Jones's new sidekick. He's Indiana Jones's son. The costume may not take very much work at all. You might need hair gel, a leather jacket, jeans with long pant legs, and a comb. Then again, the websites below offer full Mutt costumes.

Jack Sparrow - In recent years, Jack Sparrow has become a thing of movie legend. Who says you can't still go trick-or-treating or to a Halloween party as Johnny Depp's most famous character.

Spider-Man - The last Spider-Man film was sort of a travesty at the box office, but it's Spider-Man, arguably the greatest superhero ever created. You can't go wrong celebrating Halloween as the famous web-slinger.

Cute list. I once dressed as a scarecrow as a kid. I absolutely love Halloween, so much so that we are visiting Salem, Mass next month.
